Hello all,
I have not been on this web site for some time. I do still fish Erie tribs, just not as often. I am very saddened to hear Terry has passed away. He was a nice guy I have talked with on the internet and once in person. My thoughts are with the family.

I stopped by Poor Richard's west today to get the stubs and cash, as I wont be in the neighborhood for a while.  They only got to sell ONE ticket.  I just don't get it.

Thanks Gary and Dot for doing your part.  Having them right in front of the register was a great spot.  Thanks Dot for buying one, I hope you win big.

CR500, I'll try to sell the rest up until the deadline, and I'll pop them in the mail Wednesday or Thursday.

RE: Raffle for Terry 2007/10/29 21:12:19 (permalink)
Thanks T.T.

I appreciate the help.  The lack of sales isn’t a big deal all in all.  We sold a few more today and in the end we'll help out a family a little bit.  I've spoken to Lorie and the effort is much appreciated while everything after that is just what it is.

I certainly wouldn't say I'm disappointed by this experience.  I've gotten to do some work with a bunch of people on this board behind the scenes and have to say I'm pretty encouraged.  Many were people I would have bet on helping out before starting this whole thing and they surely didn't disappoint.  They actually exceeded my expectations many fold.  Then there the newer people that I got to know because of this.  They are really a great bunch and generous to a fault.  I think that everyone involved did "T" proud and showed themselves to be of the highest quality.

My buddy was over this evening to drop off some eggs and get a look at his handle for a float rod.  He bought a ticket and was snooping in a box at the end of one of my benches.  It was the box that I put all of the odd materials and stuff in that would have been used to do the prototyping of the handles for the two rods that were originally for "T".  There was velcro, brass threaded inserts, a whole bunch of different bra parts from Joanne's and other stuff.  The bra stuff was one of the ideas I had for the strapping that was going to be used for his hand.  If it's soft enough for my wife's boob's than it surely would have been soft enough for "T"s hand.  I was looking forward to making a trip down every three weeks or so to do fittings and have a laugh with "T".  I kind of thought if he never was able to get to the water again we could have at least spent the winter jokin’ and smiling as best as possible.

Everyone eulogizes "T" and that's nice but to tell you the truth...  "T" had a head like a brick at times.  He could be a pain in the **** at times.  He had a great outlook at times.  He was a blast to fish with all the time.  My daughter loved him and checks the mail daily for envelopes for this raffle.  She doesn't fish with a vibrax spinner he gave her years ago so she doesn't loose it.  In the end "T" was just a guy like everyone else.  I don't have any fancy eulogy or any great tribute to post, for me???  I guess I'll just miss my friend.

Well said Cr500.  Don't throw out that material you were working on for Terry.  I have a wild idea that I would like to talk with you about. Your magic might be just the thing to help out others who have challenges.

Thanks again for all that you have done and I believe that Terry will be proud of your efforts.  I know he was not perfect, but he had a heart of gold and an incredible degree of forgiveness.  I am glad I got to know him.

Scott,
I am guessing it may be a little early, but do you have tally of how many tickets were sold?  I know I got my check to you late, and I am hoping that was the case for some other folks.............

I am sure that I speak for many when I say how much I appreciate all the work you put into this raffle.  God Bless You!

JMFLYFISHER,

I don't know yet.  We have around 50 here give or take, skip and TT have some in the mail and there are others still in the mail.  I'm fishing next week so I'll catch up late next week and get everything figured out.  We lost 1 spinning reel in shipping so the raffle will be purchasing that reel to replace the one that is somewhere in the USPS system.  Other than that everything went very smooth considering all the stuff passing back and forth in the mail.

Scott, I got mine out this morning.  Sorry it didn't get out yesterday like I planned, as I had to void the check and write another one because one more ticket got sold.  That's 4 stubs and 6 un-sold tickets on their way.  I was hoping to grab another one for myself, but just can't swing it this week.

Good luck to all who got their tickets, and thanks to everyone involved.  I hope the money raised can help Lorie and their fine young men catch up on old bills, or get ahead on future ones, and maybe even brighten the upcoming Holiday Season.  The many first-(insert event) after a loved one passes are very difficult.
