DAY 5

I got all setup in a pine tree thicket at 4:35.These birds have been struting there for the last month.I heard 2 gobble one in front of me an the other behind me.I looked to my left there was a hen right beside me like 5 feet away. Then the next thing i know i'm laying on the ground someone just shoot very close to me.I waited about 20 minutes then i see 2 guys walking right beside me then never saw me.So they screwed that spot up pretty for today anyway.I was walking back to the car an they started to talk to me.The guy said man i missed that turkey he was like 80 yards. He told me that he can kill a turkey at 60 yards every time. Then we went to my daughters spot there was 5 lb's,2 jakes and 2 hens on the tram road we hunt.So we went to eat breakfast give the hens time to go to the nest.I walked my **** off finally did get 2 to gobble a long way off.It was already 11:15 so i left them alone.I don't how you guys do it but after today i'm about ready to give up.

It seems to be a bit more tough this year for some reason. Had the day off and I called in a couple jakes early.. good thing though is that I did actually hear 5 today but they were all early.

be patient the day my buddy got one they gobbled only for the first half hour of light.  we probably would of given up but we saw the birds in the back of the field we checked and they came in silent and they were with hens in the field.  if we didn't see them we would of never known they were coming in

Yes be patient. Some of the best gobbler hunting will be here in 2 or 3 weeks. My favorite time was always near the end of the season. You will have the woods to yourself.

the ones that give up, are the ones that dont fill their tags. keep going. 1 morning it will all come together and you will be glad you didnt quit.
