Tent on the ice?

I'm considering taking a 8 person tent out onto the ice for cover out on the ice you think ill be ok. I'm considering grinding some points on some bolts to hold it down. Anyone ever try using a tent?

    My gut says bad idea espically in any kind of wind over a couple of MPH because an 8 man is a pretty big tent/ lots of surface area but hey maybe you will be a pioneer or maybe just get blown away or loose your tent. I have seen several people out using tents but never anything bigger than a two man. Good luck.

    even if its bolted to the lake u think it will fly away with 3 People inside?

    I think its a bad idea as well...wind is a very powerfull thing!  Besides are you planning on cutting holes in the floor?  What about when snow and slush is on the ice...that would be a mess.  I would hate to see you ruin an expensive nice tent for a day of fishing.

    Yes I plan on cutting holes into the floor. Why would snow and slush be a big deal? Now water on the other hand would be a pain if any water is noticed I aint doin it. Couple days of fishing... It's just and old Red Canyon thats been sitting around not being used, and I figure this way it saves the hundreds and hundreds of dollars put into a Ice Cube or something bigger to hold 3 people... The Rods for the tent are pretty thick, and the tent is made to withstand Windy Stormy weather according to the bag, so I dont see why a 15-20mph wind is gonna throw a 30lbs tent along with 450lbs of people and 6 corners being held down by 20lbs weights accross the lake..

    you will be fine sides my blow in a litle bit but the tent wont with al that wait in there

    i used my hunting blind on small lakes trout fishing. worked pretty good.

    All sounds good except for hauling around 6 20lbs weights.

    Thats ok it's only a half an hour drive for me to canadohta.. Yep got the coleman heater now I'm ready.. I'm gonna try and get a video on you tube I'm going this weekend I'll try and have it on here by next week.
