I found that the best way to compare various reels and rods is to actually hold them in your hands and get the feel which suits you best.  The best shop I found with the best selection of centerpinning gear is Erie Outfitters west side of Cleveland.  Craig, the owner, is very informative and will give you the best prices IMO.  He is a stand up guy and will certainly steer you in the right direction.  You could also feel what you like and purchase right here at FishErie to support our locals.  If you want to try to save yourself even more $$, you could buy second hand.  Go to various steelheading/pinning sights and keep an eye on the classifieds after you have decided what you really want.  Sometimes Ebay has pinning gear for sale as well, so keep an eye out there.  Good Luck.

The Okuma-Sheffield rod &reel combo from fishusa is a good setup for the price.I bought one three years ago and have had no problums. The rod has handled kings to stocked trout. Are there better out there, yes, all in how much you want to spend.
