Just get a 12 gauge that accepts 3 inch shells.   Get a real tight choke, or get the kind with the screw in chokes and make sure you get a choke for turkies.  Buy some turkey loads, and you are in business.  Oh, I guess if you are into status, you could drop 2000 bucks, but you could also drop 200 on a Mossberg 500.  Either way, the bird will be just as dead.

Even better, try a Benelli Nova. They sell for about $275 on sale. They will handle a 3 1/2" magnum shell and yet kick less than most 3". The choke is key no matter what you shoot.  Have fun!!!!

winchester 1300 with the tightest choke you can find for it and 3" winchester supreme shells. took turkey out to 50 to 60 yards. i also crow hunt with the same gun and prob shot over 150 to 200 boxes of shells out of it and havent had any problems.

I will have a beautiful Mossberg 835 for sale before turkey season.  Its from the first year they were made(not as bulky as newer ones) and the action on it is smooth as a baby bottom.  24", Extra Full Turkey choke, if anyone is interested, let me know.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

I dont know I have 3 turkey guns. I have a winchester 1300 mossy oak camo, with a "Dead Coyote choke" it also doubles as my coyote skatter gun too. A Mossberg 500 a its pretty much custom it has a  20in. barrell, red dot sight, Advanced Technology Pistol grip Buttstock and a Hastings Compensator choke tube. This sweetheart teamed with the now defunct Activ 3in  2 1/4 oz. nickle plated 4's is death on a stick. And my H&R 10ga. I have 2 barrels for it a 20 and 28 inch barrel. Its not a gun its a piece of artillary.
Ive shot numerouse birds with other guns but I just keep goin back to my Mossberg and my 10ga.  Just don't use a gun witha red dot sight in fall. Its a lot easier to point and click with a bead than it is fumbling to turn a sight on. (for snap shots)

dont hear drums and cant smell
chicken blood in the air, put it back
in the box, for if it is evil you seek,
then it can only be conjured with the
    same.
