Burden Lake 1/27

I was out on Burden from about 830-1230 Monday.  Bite was pretty slow, we got a few perch, a nice crappie, and some nice very gills that got tossed back in. Also a small pickerel on a tipup. Crappie and perch dinner was awesome mmmm.
Most fish were holding right in the weeds and were hard to get to come up above for a bite. Bright overhead sun probably didnt help.

A guy walked up and asked how they were hitting right as I pulled out the crappie.  "Oh a crappie- cool... mind if I put in a hole around here?"  He then proceeds to drill a hole and set up his shanty about 10 feet from my seat!
When I left he still hadnt caught a crappie... ha!

I might stay local this weekend too, if the snow is still deep.

I can't deal with a foot of snow and a long walk on LG, Schroon or Brant.  I am not 22 anymore :)

I was thinking Burden this weekend also, since I want a shot at one of those myserious pike in there.

If you guys are around and have any interest in another tagging along, give me a shout.  I am down in New Jersey right now at Rutgers, but I will be back on Thurday night.  Might do Saturday at Burden and then Sunday on Snyders so I can be close to home when the game (and commercials) start up around sixish...  Last weekend of football, I am crushed.  Fishing has been slow at home, but at least it's convenient!  All are welcome!

C'mon Kevin...  That's a cheap shot...    The old "Ranger Jim" is gone, and the new "Ecologist Jim" has taken over...  Besides, everyone knows there are no rules at my house!   Have you forgotten the hippie-fest this past summer?  More Deadheads than Woodstock, Brother!

Sunday sounds good if you are up for it!

Weather sounds great, and maybe we could do the 'loop' from Glass to Burden to Snyders if the bite is slow anywhere.  Pike, Trout, and Walleye.

The AVERILL PARK SLAM!   Keep in touch!

Reel I'll keep 2/7 in mind for LG... I actually have never fished there.  Just gotta make sure all my family things are together before I go for an all dayer.  I'm hoping somebody comes with a power auger so we can make a lot of holes without a cardiac. I got the vex so hopefully we can find a big school and sit on it... also would like to set up for lakers, never fished for them.  Maybe we can get a crew?  How much parking is there by the camp?

PERCH-  Not sure about sunday... I'll call if im coming.. what time are you guys talking?  Dude, I think I can get addicted to crappie...  there's a lot more meat on those filets than perch. As for the sunnies, maybe if i get a real big one it'll be worth trying to filet it. I've been scaling them and gutting them and frying em whole.... they're not bad at all but you may get a bone or two.

I think I smell a good time brewing...

I also think that this site is better than the Shanty.  A lot more reports and fun, and a whole lot less questions.

My only question is...  Wanna' catch some fish this weekend?

    P.S.  I should get a tie-dyed snowsuit, huh?

    Oh Perch,

I was shooting for Saturday...  Jeesh...  I was hoping you might wanna' hit Burden, etc. TOMORROW!

I might be tied up Sunday morning, which makes a grand loop tough.  But I would  have a few hours in the afternoon here on Snyders to get drill some holes, get a fire going and see if anything exciting happens!

I've had tip-ups out all day today as I was working from home.  One flag, one smallie.  15ft of water.  Weak.

Also jigged around sunset- no dice.  Beers went down smooth though across the way there.

Get in touch if you wanna' meet up Sunday afternoon?  After you slay 'em in Burden?

I think I am hitting Glass and/or Burden Sat. morning.

Trout or Pike.  Tough call.  I am leaning towards Burden.  Pike.

NYY:  Whoa, man.  That was like...  so out there, man.  Cool.

(HLS should have chimed in on this one!)
