Conneaut Lake Ice Question

Brand new to the sport of ice fishing and was wondering if anyone could tell me how safe it is to walk across conneaut lake.  Was out Saturday behind silver shores with the rest of the pack and the ice looked fairly safe to me 6" plus. Have a spot up toward Oakland Beach that I would like to try , but it will be a little bit of a hike from fireman's beach area.  Is the entire lake usually pretty safe, or is there soft spots??  Saw people riding snowmobiles on saturday, so I'm GUESSING that it would be ok.

Looking back at the map, it would probably be a shorter walk from the fish commission boat launch by the park.

I've fished this lake 3 times so far this year.  Walked out of firemans beach.  Ice where we fish is anywhere from 6-8".  Last time I was there was saturday morning.  Not sure about the top end of the lake, but the one day there were a few shanties up there.

becareful of the areas where creeks run into the lake.  there's a few up the east side that i know of for sure.  great spots for bass and pike in the spring and fall.  ice is almost always sketchy around places where water comes in.
