Horeshoe Pond

Stopped at horeshoe today to see what the ice looked like.  Walked about 30 yrds off the second lot towards a houseboat.  Drilled a few holes, ice ranged from 3-6 inches.  Fished for 10 min, just as I was about to leave I feel a deadweight on my line, set the hook and off it went.  Big male steelhead gave me a fight of a lifetime on the ice rod, fought it for around 20 min, estimated him around 28inches. Awesome way to start the hardwater season.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

Krott, would you recommend people going out on the ice at horseshoe? I was thinking about going out this weekend.

I would not venture too far out on it as the ice looks like crap near the houseboats.  I have only fished horeshoe a few times with this time being the only time with a fish.  Its shallow and not many fish tend to hold in there this time of year, I could be wrong though.

Been sort of raining all night here in Harborcreek. Some freezing, and 38 on the thermometer at 5:30am. Salt truck are out but the side streets are a sheet of ice.

Thanks Krott, think i will wait til Monday to venture out, suppose to get cold over the weekend, hopefully it hardens the ice enough. Got the itch to ice fish, but will hold off until it is safer.

Stopped by today (1/9), there were several huts out on the ice.  Anywhere from 20-50 meters from shore.  I walked around on it, drilled a few holes.  Looked like it ranged from 4-6 inches.  Think I might try it tomorrow.
