favorite crappie set up

what outfit or outfits do you use specifically for crappie.  i asked chaunc this on another site and his answer was really surprising.  he keeps it pretty much simple, even though the consensus is that he is our resident pro.  seems as though my arsenol has everything from 5.0 ultra lites to 8.5 lites and some med. lts thrown in.  shimano reels for me, graphite or aluminum body.

curently I use my St.C 7'6" MLXF dropshot rod with a Stradic 1000 for crappie.  Haven't had the time to finish the 7'6" 4wt. Forecast that I'm building spin or the 7' LF Rainshadow that I started 3 years ago.  Those will eventually have Sahara 750's on them.

7'6 Fenwick light with Daiwa reel (the only reel I've ever spent a lot of money on) loaded with 2 pound line is my favorite all around panfish setup. The only times I change from this is if the fish are in thick weeds and wood I'll upsize the gear, or if I'm flyfishing.

Almost all of my crappie rods are BNM poles.
I use the sam heaton series BNM's, i use the 7 and 9' most, every now and then 10-12',  a few 5' UL rods and I have been carrying an ice rod with me for when it gets really windy I can fish right in the lee of the boat out of the wind and have max esnsativity.  I caught my larges crappie just over 2# on the ice rod and not on ice.  I have also added spring bobbers to a few rod and they are amazine for bite detection.  I like to get some of the HT snap on springbobbers, marmooska style to keep with me also.  I al also never without a few thill mini stealth #2/ 1/32oz float when they is any possiblity of bluegill or crappie.  I also prefer small lure like slider grubs.  I normall never use a lure larger than a 1.5' tube for crappie and many places much smaller espically in gills are around.
