BIG Walleye!!!

Saw a picture in today's edition of the Meadville Tribune on the third page of the sports section of a big azz walleye.  Caught by Larry Overton in French Creek I believe it was a 34 1/2"   15lb. 2oz. monster!!  Holy Crap!!

Don't have a subscription to the online edition.  Guy brought the paper to work today and showed me.  I'll try to look around on the net and see if I can find it.

Here's a scanned copy of the pic that was in the paper.  The eye on this thing is huge compared to the fish.  Hard to tell exactly how big it is in this pic.

That walleye sure has a surprised look on its face. Look at the size of the eye, he must have hit it over the head pretty hard.

Looks fishy. The only time I see them with eyes that big is when they are pulled out of deep water on the charter boats. The pressure change from yankin em out of deep water pops their eyes out.

Or, as I stated above, when you hit them over the head really hard to kill them after you take them off the stringer or out of the livewell. That will make their eyes bug out like that quite often. It makes them appear larger than normal.

how can you guys tell how big that fish is from that photo?? the guy is holding it way out (note the straight arms), the guy's head is way back and his belly is way out. the photo could also have been taken with a wide angle lens which make the forground look even that much larger.

it's a good size fish but i don't think anybody (outside of FBI photo analysts) could tell the length.

No offense, but I've seen 15 pounders caught out of the Bay of Quinte, absolute pigs....If I get the chance I'll post some pics.  That there is one nice walleye, but no 15 pounder.

Thats a really nice Walleye considering it came from French, but it doesnt look like a 15 lber from the pic! It may be that big...but the pic makes it look smaller.

Here's a pic of my buddy for comparison. On the right he's holding a 15 lb eye we caught in Erie. On the left he's holding a 9 lb eye!

I caught about a 9 pounder from Fort Lebouf and it looked about that size.  BassAckwards took it home and said it was delicious.  I catch them, he cooks and eats them.  That's what friends are for.... right?

My cousin lives down in Franklin and has fished French down there for years and always says that there are some HUGE eyes down that way.  One of these days i'm going to make it down there.

Phish, just for fun ,try this:measure the guys ring finger(mine is a little under 4" long) then measure the length of the fish in the pic. (approx. 9") then multiply 9x4 you get approx. 36". no matter how far or close the camera is, the ratio should be the same I would think.  sam

Happy Holidays everyone! Why does everyone doubt this fish? Trust me, they get that big in French creek. I fish it a lot & it is, if not the best fishery in Northwest Pa. Take the time to scout it & you could land a whopper too!

I remember reading in PA. Angler years ago of a guy that caught some big eyes out of French Creek.

His name was Ed Gray he is a ledgend on French Creek and is resposible for French Creek being as good as it is today( along with a few others. He used mostly his own jigs and would say if you needed to tip them you did not know how to fish them.Would have loved to pic his brain on French Creek but sadly he is gone and just his ledgend lives on...A friend of mine took a 32in 14lb monster out of French Creek one year and I personaly seen a 13 1/2 landed one day. I have gotten many nice 15- to 25 inchers from French Creek but never lit into a monster thier yet..
