Put the boat away yesterday. Just couldn't stand leaving it out in this weather any longer. Was trying to wait until the first of Dec., but with the lows in the 20"s, i said no way. Celery farm? Swim beach, maybe. Hoping to get on Conneaut lake first this year. Love those big gills. Got some new jigs from microspoons that i THINK are going to be deadly on all the panfish. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/ice-fishing-forum/76712-08-line-up-whacha-think.html

Already put fresh line on a couple reels and charged up both vex batteries. Gonna check the blades on the lazer and replace them if needed. Come on ICE.

I have a 10 year old grandson that I'd like to take icefishing and Conneaut Lake is not that far away. It's quite weedy around shore and most of the summer fishing is done by boat.  How's Conn. lake inthe winter?

I've never fished it in the winter. I'm looking forward to giving it a try this season with some of the KCA members and friends. I'll post here when we get a date set.

Fished Conn. lake through the ice last winter for the first time.  The weeds are still there.  Although it may be hard without electronics, find weed edges or open pockets in the weedbed.  Left there last year with close to 40 keeper gills between my buddy and I.  Fished from 8 til bout noon.  Will hit it several times this winter.

Have not fished Conneaut through the ice myself, but look foreward to giving it a shot this year.  Have heard many a report on the bluegill fishing on the north end up toward silvershores restaurant.  Large weedbed there just like redneck said.  Also some drops to deeper water.

Crappie, I am not all that firmiliar with the lake, but the large weedbed we fished was on the south end.  I know there are weeds through out the lake.  Would like to try the north end of the lake and find some deeper water this season.  But who knows.  Part ofg shenango was froze this morning.  Skim ice, but hey its a start.

My fault, meant to say the south end by silvershores.  Have seen a few guys fishing the north end from time to time down by the park, but not sure shat species they get into down there.
