seasons tally's

One big fat doe no buck. Seen some monster bucks never givivng me a shot. I had seen many many does at shooting distance and a few shooter and scrub bucks at distance too and passed on. Mainly because helping my buddy and his hunt's. His dad  had a stroke a few years ago and only has use of one arm. Trying to find places where to set up the tent blind on somewhat flat ground and still have some shooting lanes can be tough. He shoots a crossbow with a tripod. Its pretty cool to see someone with his problems to have the drive to get out and hunt. The bad news that did not get a shot this year . all in all good season.  What i did notice most of the does seen were 1-2 year olds same with most of the bucks. All in A1  Congrat to everyone that harvested a deer with a bow. Now to see one of those monster bucks with a gun!!!!!!!! I will have to take a doe or two to finish filling the freezer.      GOOD LUCK IN GUN SEASON      AND BE VERY VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE    DAVE

Never got a shot at shooter buck this year ..Saw few does. The couple fifs that did get to close were button bucks,so no shot..Was an excellent year for hunting, just a very slow year for killing deer..so far..My range just got extended by a couple hundred yards..Good Luck all in rifle season..Be Safe....

In my 30th season I managed to get out 19 times. All hunts were on public land & private land open to anyone.
    Saw 12 bucks= 3 legal (4pt area)which I passed, 2 unknown size, 7 little guys.
19 does and 3 unknown sex.
While learning a new area & missing the last week of week Oct. due to work I still had great season.
To all those who were successful Congrats to those who were not keep your heads up. Guess it's time to get the *$*#$#% gun out. Good luck

Harvested a buck on the first day in 2B so my stand time was down from usual.  Did sit 4 times in 2A looking to fill a doe tag and passed up 2 shots on little ones.  Mama kept her distance as usual.

Probably sat on stand 12 times or so, did have 4 shooter bucks within range, 2 shooters out of range, a 7 point twice that I would have passed, many does and yearlings in 2B and 10-12 does and yearlings in 2A.  As said previously, none of the mamas presented a shot in 2A.

All of this was on private land, two posted with limited access and the other a PGC cooperator with public access to those that ask.

    A good season.

On a side note, the one farm that is a PGC public access cooperator, I did not see another hunter in the woods.  For those that need some private lands to hunt, I highly encourage you to check out the updated maps on the PGC website.

You can check those maps all you want, without addresses and phone numbers of who to contact your ****ing in the wind. They arent that accurate and Im not about to knock on every persons door in a 5 mile stretch to figure out which property is which. They need to redo that one so its of some use. Id gladly ask if they told you WHO TO ASK.

I saw in the neighborhood of about 12 bucks this season.  Only one shooter an 11pt.  He was about 18-20 inch wide.  No shot.  Lots of young bucks, some legal some not.  A few does, especially the last 2 weeks.  Never drew the bow back.  Good luck to everyone in gun season.

I was basically only able to get out on weekends this season, but still saw a fair share of deer.  Saw 3 shooter bucks and a spike as well as many fawns and does.  Had a nice 7 point run full speed right under me last saturday, wasnt gonna stop for anything.  I shot a decent doe later in the evening, dropped after 20 yards.  As a bonus I shot a nice gobbler from my stand on the first day of turkey!

In about 75 hours of hunting from multiple stands in 4 distinct locations (2A and 2B) I saw a total of 14 deer.  Of these, one was a spike.  I didn't see a branch antlered buck except while driving to and from hunting spots or at night.  I did get a shot at a doe, which I flubbed.  As a previous poster said, it was a good hunting season ,but a tough year for shooting anything.  One thing is for sure, I'll take the most dull, uneventful sit I had all year over any day at work.

    Roughly 100 hours of hunting.

Seen 2 Shooter bucks, took one. Buddy shot and grazed other.

3 smaller scrubs, and one MASSIVE 6 point.

    2 doe.

First Year Archery, was a BLAST. I'm hooked.

Also saw first Coyote ever. Was cool as hell.

2B- 5 different buck 2 legal, 20+ doe but didn't take any shots yet.

2D- 8 legal bucks (harvested 1), 6 or 7 smaller bucks, 12-14 doe. This is all private land and only I have access to it. Everything around it is posted and very well managed. Only a couple doe are taken each year by the kids, and very few small bucks.

I filled a doe tag on the second saturday, and my buck tag on Halloween.

I saw a lot of deer this year, compared to the last 3 years. I hunted about 7 days total. Saw 9 different bucks, a few of which I saw a couple times. I saw a couple of does every time in the stand.

Hunted in Greeneco and in WV, near fairview.  I Got an 8-pt 20 mins into the first day in WV.  Still have a doe tag, so I'll be back out with the flintlock, or maybe the bow, I havent decided.  I got an 8-pt in Greeneco, saw many bucks there, mostly younger, but have seen some nice ones spotting.  Still suffering from the ill effects of EHD on my home range, a few does, and a couple small bucks that need to be left alone.  Some places seem to have rebounded alot from last year, others not nearly as much.  I got another trip to OH planned, saw a few small 8 pts last weekend, my cuz's property is managed supurbly, so it might get very interesting.  Good luck to everyone who is going out for rifle, and be careful, please!

2B mostly public land.  18-20 bucks, 8-9 of those were legal, two monsters out of range, a lot of doe.
3 doe for the freezer but no bucks, waiting on Mr. Big.

The PGC just completed a significant update to all of the maps and signs on all of the cooperators.  All of the ones that I am aware of in 2A are marked accurately on the map and with big green signs or safety zone signs in the field with a cooperator number on it.

I saw a presentation on this at the fall meeting.  I suggest you give it another try.  The cooperators have asked the PGC to not disclose names or phone numbers as it should still be up to the hunter to do some legwork.

Believe me, alot of available private land exists and many will allow archers and not rifles.

The one farm I hunt is loaded with deer and the pressure is minimal.

There was a guy just north of Milesburg doing this.  I think he is on the map or PGC website.   For some reason, I'm thinking he charged a $5 or $10 fee for parking (maybe overnite ??).   Take a look and contact the PGC if the info. is incomplete.

The one coop farm I hunt, the PGC put a 18X18 inch green sign next to the guys driveway with the coop number on it.

Someone looking for it cannot miss it.  As I said I have not seen another archer in the woods the 5-6 times I hunted there this year.

It is on the map where it is supposed to be as is another one two miles up the road.

Thats a different program, yes I saw that one as well.

If you say they have signs out, well heck, ill gladly ask. Ive not gotten very nice reponses from property owners in the area which is why I dont want to knock at everyones door.

I only saw two shooters all year neither of which I was able to get a shot at. I chose not to shoot a doe as I enjoy going after them with my pistol. Now I have to look forward to next year. This is the first time in 9 years I was not able to get a buck in archery season and I'm really bummed out about it. Good Luck to you all in the umcoming bear and deer seasons.

In 2B- I hunted 4 full saturdays and 3 Friday evenings.  I saw somewhere around 20-25 does and 7 different bucks.  5 of the bucks were legal, I had a 130" range buck within 20 yards but I never got a shot opportunity.  I harvested a doe first day in the evening.  I have seen more giants(approx. 130+) this year spotting locally than I have in any year I can remember.

In 4D- I hunted about 6 times, all evening hunts.  I bumped a small doe while checking an area out I planned to hunt later that evening.  Ended up being the only deer I saw!

It rained alot on Saturday morning.  Mature bucks were running everywhere along the roads chasing.  I straped a montana decoy doe to the tailgate of my truck, hoping to get a chase.     Did get a few looks from people, but no deer.

I was able to hunt 12 days this year. I saw 1 10 point, a good 9 point, 6 different 8 points (2 of which being real monsters), 4 little 6's that should all be nice looking deer next year if they make it through, and 5 other bucks that I could either not make out how many points or where spikes. I also saw 28 does according to my notes.

The 10 was later shot in archery and I know of 3 does that where killed as well. So there still should be some good deer out there come rifle. That and when people start driving out the bottom like they do the first couple days that moves even more deer up to where I will be. I'm looking forward to the 1st of December.

I had a button buck run into my truck the next day.  The decoy was laying in the bed.  Maybe he could sense it ?    I was going about 25 mph, and he turned and ran into my rear wheel.  He layed there breathing with a bloody nose.  He was gone the next morning.
