I never thought of blood ??? not trying to create trouble here BUT --- While it (blood on the face) may be sort of a "superstition or tradition thing" I am not so sure I would be doing that any more with the possiblity of the diseases in deer going around... I do not even field dress without latex gloves anymore... just a thought...

MikeG, no problem, she is getting to the age where I get those comments a lot.
Dr. Trout I have never gutted one with the gloves, nor have I heard of anyone who has gotten sick from doing so. I guess that is why I don't use them. Thanks for the advice though.

I don't think EHD is transmittable to humans which is probably the most prevalent disease out there to be worried about. I have gutted several without and several with gloves. I'll use em if I have em but won't let it stop me. Need to do the "Red Dawn" scene by downing a steaming coffee mug full of "beast" blood as the Nuge would say and become one with the beast! Unfortunately, work blocks the photos for me (i'll check it out at home later) but tell the little lady congrats!
