Doc--I CHALLENGED you to post the results of the PGC's deer scoring program with comparisons to past years along with the number of bucks killed last year by junior hunters. You stated that you could get that info if you wanted. Instead you put up a couple pages of misc stuff including lots of your own claims and data which means nothing as far as what is happening statewide.-------We are close to the same age. I am a bit older than you. You basicly hunt a 2sq mile area.  I hunt about a 25 plus sq mile area. You are content to hunt a few hours a season. I hunt a few hours every day of the season. You are happy with a few red squirrels and a couple doe. I hunt 2-1/2 year old 8 point bucks or better and gobblers and bear. You think the PGC is doing a great job and AR is working even though you have only seen 2 legal bucks in a 3 point area in 20 years of hunting. Since you say you don't care about a buck I guess from your perspective you are correct.  The last 3 years of AR I have seen fewer 8 points or better and more real scrubs than any year in the decade before AR. In my mind, in the area I hunt from my perspective I am correct in saying it isn't working and is reducing the quality of bucks. Now I am going back out and try to prove myself wrong.

what's with the 2 legal bucks  I have seen in my little hemlock grove....  it isn't much bigger that 1/2 a football field....

I have also posted how many LEGAL bucks have been harvest in that area behind my house that I know of.... so I do not think my personal spot to hunt from means anything as to the area in general or especially state wide....

You use that to try to be-little me personally because I could care less about shooting a buck... and want to contniue my tradition of a 1st day harvest from the hemlock grove...

I hunt about a 25 plus sq mile area.

SORRY !!!! I do not and will not believe you cover that much area in a season.... do you even know how many acres that is....

that's over 15,360 acres ... that would mean you would have to cover 512 acres a day for 30 days....  to see it all once ..........talk about BULL !!!!!

I wasn't trying to belittle you but was trying to point out the differences in how we approach hunting. This may explain in part why you are happy with what is happening and I am not. I don't have to cover every acre every year because over the years I have learned where to look.Plus some of it is now posted.  I doubt you cover every piece of your general area for the same reason. If you are happy in how you hunt then more power to you, that's what it is all about. Just don't try to convince me that because you are satisfied I should be. I have spent enough time in the woods over the last 50 + years to have a idea how things are changing and why.

Ill gladly take a 4pt minimum, spread restriction... whatever

I dont agree we need to keep killing doe's in the masses, thats my only gripe.

At the rate the antlers ov all sizes are bein' knocked off at the base from fightin' around here a good bit ov nice bucks will be shot as doe when rifle starts. Up 'til bout last year I would see nice bucks sportin'  full headgear into March. Oh well what u gonna do???
