RAYSTOWN LAKE AND FISHING REPORT

Hello all, I will be heading to the Raystown area with the wife for a short getaway the first week of NOVEMBER.  I was wondering whether the lake trout and striped bass fishing are worth a shot.  I would also like to know if anyone recommeds any particular guides or should we try fishing from shore or renting a small boat.  I've never been there, but figured I would check it out...

Any feedback would be helpful.  THANKS...

Lastly, does anyone have a fishing report for the lake?  Couldn't find too much on the lake, best times of year to fish or even a report from a local guide...

As soon as the water turns the Stripers can be caught on top water lures in late evening in the night. You will actually see the stripers coming on top after the minnows and gourging on them.  Just cast into them and holdon for a great fight.
The main area is where water goes from shallow to deep fast and that is alot of this lake.  I fish from Seven Points marina towards dam myself.

Would like some general information if possible. I catch alot of stripers in the surf casting from shore. Is it possble to do the same at Raystown fishing from shore? I don,t need Someone,s best spot ,Just a general area, boat launch ,bridge, etc.I am a fly fisherman which probably makes things harder.  Thanks Gobe

One of my best friends payed a guide and spent a weekend fishing for lake trout at Raystown. The guide warned him that the lake trout fishin was slow, but he still wanted to go through w/it.

Ended up catching 4 lakers and some real nice bass..

If I can find them I'll poste the pics, he send them 2 me but I may have deleted them. You can bet I'll blur his face out! Just 4 all the fishErie crew.

Stripers up folks..   The water has turned and the stripers are biting.  There are fish throughout the lake with good numbers around the resort, Shy Beaver and up in Brumbaugh's out of Aitch and Jamescreek.  They are hitting plugs, umbrella's and spoons.  Most fish are ranging from 10 to 30 lbs.  I have heard of fish blowing up all hours of the day. Will post more info as it becomes available.
