Heading up tomorrow

Hello fishermen/women,

Will be heading up tomorrow afternoon with my son and brother. Will be staying in Pymy at my brothers friends place.  I haven't fished for steelhead in quite a few years.  I checked the 7 day forecast and it's going to be a wet weekend.  I think my brothers friend will be taking us to fish Elk Creek.  I've been reading the "stories" here and I think we may do ok.

The last time I did fish the tribs I was on upper Walnut and caught a 12lb coho.  It was in a hole with about 20-30 other fish.  Alot of them had spinners all over their body.
I didn't have a decent rod so I borrowed one.

I'll be using a 9' "Steelhead" rod with 6lb P-line.  I'll probably be using spinners if I have the room or will use eggsackson a size 14 hook with a small float.  Do you think I'll be needing any weight on the line?

well tight lines to everyone

If you will be staying until the rain comes then you're set for a great week!  The fish aren't very far up the creeks right now, but with another two days or so of high flows they should be very well spread out.  I'm sure you'll have a great time!

    Thank you for your service.

My dad lives in Boonsboro, near you.  Are you a fly fisherman?  If so, have you ever fished Big Hunting Creek?  I fished there this summer extensively and fell in love.  It was beautiful.  I can't get those Brook Trout out of my head.  Also, If you are a fly fisherman, I have another question to ask you via PM.

cool, we'll send 2 anglers for every fish up that way now...

actually, there were some fish way upstream over three weeks ago.
Probably not "worth it" to most duuds though, cause they won't trip over dozens/hundreds of fish in every run, hole or pocket

At least once a year I drive up and find blown out conditions.  It looks like this weekend the tribs might be blown out by Saturday morning.  If the streams aren't blown out by 4:00 am Saturday I'll be heading up.  I'll be watching the online gauges most of the night.  The problem is the water can go from fishable to blown out in hours.  Could look good at 4am and be unfishable by the time I get there.

Looks like it might rain "just enough" for tomorrow.   Looks like I'll be on 79 in the morning.  First pee at the rest stop before 66.  Girard Boro, here I come.

See ya in the am, leaving tonight, well actually about 3 in the morning.

I figure I would rather be fishing than sitting in a tree while its raining.

Wow, very low and clear.  That rain did nothing.  Good day though...
