Pix from today - 10-18

Here are some pix from Saturday, 10-18.  Elk had good flow and plenty of fish.  I don't know who that guy fishing is.

It figures...the one weekend I decide to stay home, the creeks are perfect!  I got a good excuse to go next weekend...winterizing the 'ol camp.  I'll have to tell my wife thats a BIG job, will take ALL weekend to do!

Looking at the pictures and my front lawn, Leaf season 2008 is to start in a few days.
There was a hard frost last night.
More leaves than fish will be caught.
PI may be the spot over the next week or two. Leaves only make the fish even more skittish than the low and clear we are experiencing.Chris

I've never fished the Bay for Steelhead. Is that usually a "boat thing" or do you cast lures from shore somewhere. If you're boating how do you fish for them and in what general area. I would like to give that a try some day.

My guess would be troll for them as you would around the mouths of the creeks in the lake. Any input would be appreciated.

i don't know about the fall . but in the spring we crush them at the water work's . right on the pier. from ice out till the latter part of april. or we slam them at horse shoe pond. the east & west pier's are another good place to go . we fish there in the spring becouse of all the smolt's in elk creek at that time of the year. we don't get as many smolt's down at the (pi).

    Smallhook,

Thanks for sharing, Erie is a beautiful place.  Hopefully the weather man is right about the rain next week.  I plan on making the first trip up next weekend.  Nice catch.

I thought I resized all my photo's to the size of the first photo.  I noticed my mistake after I already posted them.  After six hours of driving, eleven hours of fishin and an hour and a half of my kids (15, 19 & 25) I decided to not fix my mistake and go to bed.

I can't wait to do it next week again.  The week after that I'm spending the weekend up there with a Boyscout Troop.

Hey, thanks for the nice pics.  Looks good as my Desktop!  (I was glad you didn't resize -- keeps it a nice clear picture on my screen).

I was fishing Elk this weekend, but as usual I forgot to take any good scenery pictures.  Yours are great.

Try fishing from the foot of East Ave off the boat launch peir. Over the weekend there were some walleyes caught off the peir, along with some steelhead. That is in the lake though. Still a nice place to fish from shore.  About 9 years ago and years prior to that they would release the smolts from Dobbins Landing (old public dock). LAst time I watched them put 800,000 smolts in the bay. They all come back. The bay is full of steelhead. Even in the marina on the Penninsulia. West pier is good also. Nothing beats creek fishing though.
