Day 1

Sorry Jeremy, I cannot help with your experiment.  7:45 this morning, 7 bucks funneled by (4 scrubs and 3 decent 8 points).  The last one was the best (120 class).  The shot was 15 yards with a G5 and the buck went less than 20 yards up hill, then piled up.  We put him on the scale and he dressed 183, not a bad buck (3 1/2 year old).  Anyway, he is not the "Hammer" of the hill and I could have waited, but...  15 yards broadside on the opener is hard to pass on.  I will post pics soon, good luck guys... Griffon

Congratulations on your early morning buck. That would be a hard shot to pass on - I could not do it. Now you can concentrate on fishing.

They say you should never pass a buck on the first day that you would settle for on the last day. Sounds like a nice one, congrats.

Thanks Guys,  I am satisfied...  For you young bucks, I wish I were 25 again LOL.  It seems the tailgate on my truck gets a little higher every year and I have to resort to many different awkward positions to get these critters into the truck.  Heaven forbid someone would walk up on me, they would think that I was "mounting" my buck before I ever got to the taxidermist. FYI, ratchet straps are our friends... If it weren't for them, I might still be trying to get him up and into the bed.

Last big bodied buck i shot some guy stopped and helped me. I was about half dead from the drag. I decided then and there i would own a game cart. Just wheel them up on a hill, back the truck up, wheel em in.

    Nice buck Griff!

I've seen 2 does in the woods this year, both passed me by being pushed.

I'm a very novice archery hunter, and any help ya'll can give me, I'd love.

I think I move too much. I know they don't wind me!

Also, I use a crossbow, with spitfire broadheads.

Yep,2B...  Kind of Ironic that the woods across from my house last night had a hammer sleeping 15 yards just inside the woodline.  He is a 6X4 with probably a 22" spread and a real stud.  Oh Well, he survives till next bow season.

Maybe next year he will be a 6x6 with a 22'' spread.

Nice! I've been out 2 evenings on the deer farm in Allegheny County and haven't seen a deer. Saw lots of birds and chipmunks! Enjoy fishing!
