Brodhead creek
Brodhead water shed has been heating up again. Lots of stocked fish to be had with a few wild browns mixed in. Sporadic hatches of March Browns and Blue Wing Olives in the section between Stokes Mill Avenue and the interboroughs. A few tan Caddis still coming off, but not enough to get many fish rising. With all the pressure of the last month flies have been out fishing live bait hands down. Small pheasant tails tied on curved or straight hooks in American, English or soft hackle styles have been top producers in sizes 18-20. However don’t over look trying other patterns above the dropper fly to cover as much possibilities as you can. The brodhead is recovering from the 100 year floods of the past few years, and the amount of insect life that has repopulated the stream is amazing.
