I couldn't agree with you more nothing more rewarding than finding a great brook trout pond.  I've been addicted for quite a while.  And have been to many.  I love all kinds of fishing but getting back into a pond with no people.  Priceless.  I see you use the standby meat and potatoes (wobbler and worm).  I'm on my way in today until Sunday afternoon.  Would love to trade some stories.

Did you have to paddle down a larger pond to get to that one?  Looks like one of my favorites.  But many of them look similar.  Nice trout.

My favorite ponds are the trailess ones although they usually have some sort of herd path.  I like using my maps compass and gps , although it doesn't read to well under my raddison.  What areas do you like fishing?

Awsome report as usaual Tuna! I too went out for brookies last weekend but we were not as sucessfull as you. The best we did was a 12"er and some much smaller ones.
We used the same rig as you along with fly rods but this is all I got with the long stick

The pellets were the size of prunes so Im assuming It came from a moose the nine foot rubs on the nearby trees also were somewhat impressive.

After three days of heavy drinking and some smoking I was beat and we decided it was time to get the hell out of there and back to the real world.

The river is the south indian 14 miles off of rt8 Haskels rd. it takes 2 hours to go the 14 miles by truck. about 45 mins on a 4 wheeler. Its a truly awsome trip and a very old camp. I wish I could bring people in because it is a place that dreams are made of, but I am a guest of a friend(the guy under the rub).

The history and the camp log could easly be a book. The "old timers" that built the original camp and hiked the 14 miles with ten days of supplies and came out with twenty-some big bucks each year. The man made suspension bridge, that exsists today and the log bridges of yester-year. Along with the stories and embelished tales that like a good scotch, improve with age. The heros of camp are all dead but their legacy lies in tradition, and racks upon the walls. We should only hope to raise a generation so resourceful and appreciative, as the men that came before us.

Adirondack brookies are nice.. i use to have a private pond deep in the catskill with similiar brookies..so fat one needed two hands to hold them ..the males had hook jaws and black mouths with white tipped fins.. gorgeous purple orange speckles etc. No trout comes close to fried char. Another couple weeks and we try oneida lk for them perch and walleye. Maybe i will bring my sister digital camera.. in fact i'm thinking of getting a cell ph. service plan with camera etc. maybe i will share some of my haunts or at least show some fish too. I do however have a concern of advertising my fishing spots i wish to keep secret as i'm sure you all understand the internet situation.

hot tuna; do you fish anywhere near the moose river plains outside of inlet?  I have done a lot of camping and some fishing there over the years but have not been up there for a while and would love to go back.   I have also seen signs of moose in this area.

i have fished the moose river and a few ponds up there years ago
also i liked the area but have not had the chance to really get deep into it
currently i guide the Eastern & High Peaks of the Adirondacks
so right now all my time is focused there
but i never say never so maybe some day i'll get back there

St. Regis Canoe Area - some great Brook Trout come out of that area - lots of ponds to choose from to depends on what ya want to fish for - Brookies,Brown Trout,Rainbows,Lakers,Splake and even Kookenee < spell check  all these ponds are on the same road - Floodwood pond road and there are some undeveloped DEC campsites along the road (permit required after 3 days)... They say the next state record "brookie" might come from that area....
