Jig Heads
for tying maribou jigs do you guys prefer round ball heads or the round heads with the bait holder spike...i've been using the ones with the spike but taking pliers and tearing it off cause it sticks out to far...opinions?

cabelas has collarless jig heads at a pretty good deal kokanee killer has all the info on that but i do know they are sharp and durable i believe they come painted and unpainted

I just purchased a bunch from a guy that pours his own. They are the "ultra minnow" style. I bought them in the larger sizes for bucktails, but know they make them in smaller sizes. The collar on these, are not the spike kind. It allows for room to tie on to. Not sure if they are as good as the no collar, but make a good looking end product. Much like the "Spro" bucktails.
I've seemed to have pretty good luck painting them with nail polish. Try using glitter nail polish as a top coat too.
Make sure you are with your wife or daughter when buying multiple bottles of nail polish at the store though, or someone might get the wrong idea...
