You wont believe this

Tonight I discussed moving to the Mid-West with my fiance. Shes going to finish school and when shes done we're going to move somewhere with monster bucks. Its a good three years or more away but that gives me time to prepare... sell my house, find a job...

Needless to say Im pumped. Ive always wanted to move to a big buck state and thats finally going to become a reality.

:)

Cool,  Sounds like a plan.  Just remember, there are always trade offs when you make life changing decisions.  Make a list of the positives vs. negatives and go from there.  Take into account factors such as family and friends, economic stability of a region, and personal interests (say goodbye to having a premier trout stream close at hand...).  Good Luck and good hunting, Griffon.

It is a tough tradeoff, having a trout stream this good this close. But with family living back here ill still be able to fish it. Plus ill be closer to yellow stone. Economic stability really should never be a problem for either of us. Shes does medical stuff, im a computer programmer. I can work for any company, anywhere in the world that has internet access. I figure my real friends ill still get to spend time with. Were lookn at Ill/Iowa so coming home a couple times a year is possible.

You are right, theres lots of things to consider. Funny thing is, everyone I know who ever left here, came back eventually.

You might do some research about property availability in Illinois and Iowa.  There are other areas with the same potential that offer much more access to use as a sportsman.  I know for a fact that getting in on property (unless you are willing to spend an arm and a leg for a lease) or obtaining
DECENT property in Illinois is **** near impossible.  Just a couple of thoughts if big whitetails are your main goal.  Don't rule out KY, SWOhio, SIndiana, Arkansas, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri,.  You will need to research the areas hard, looking at harvest and record book information along with property availability in those areas you are interested in hunting.

True, and i have considered the land access issue. With five years to make it happen I do believe I should be able to figure it out. I havent ruled out anywhere that doesnt have a lot of natural disasters. Ohio is a big consideration as well as Wisc, which is kind of a sleeper state.

Theres big bucks in PA, anyone who disagrees can check out some of my spotting videos and might want to bring an extra set of undies.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

hey krott... got a new bow this summer and also saw a mag buck spotting the first week of school, thought u might like to know
And as for moving out to the midwest, if you can afford a property with enough size to manage midwest whitetails properly thats impressive because as hard as it is to find a quality piece of hunting land out there large enough for sale, the prices of that kind of prime real estate are extremely high... not saying it might not be worth it though,
Theres a reason all the big names in hunting hit the midwest consistantly and score big, and for sure dont count out SW Ohio!

Prices for land are about $3500-$5000/acre.

I havent quite decided where i want to go yet. Its gonna be tough to give up trout fishing so... that day may never come. I may relocate inside pa though... Allegheny County

Jeremy your probably going to reconsider Allegheny county once you see the school taxes and property taxes there.  The second problem would be obtaining any sizeable chunk of property in that area.  If you are lucky enough to come across some property and don't mind the outrageous taxes you will be in good shape.
