Big Run Banquet 2008

BIG RUN BANQUET UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that the
Big Run Banquet for 2008 will be held once again in Harbor Creek Township at the beautiful Shades Beach Pavilion on Saturday, October 11th, 2008 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM. Please plan on joining your fellow members us for a fantastic fall afternoon of demonstrations, fundraising events including contests and raffles, and a great fall banquet! Tickets for this years event are $10.00 each and will be sent to each member, will be available at our next meeting, and posted for sale in local sporting goods stores and our other sponsoring vendors. The CAB will be catering this years event and we will all be looking forward to a great meal and day of fun and fellowship.

This year’s event will feature product demonstrations including "Fish Hands Free", a device invented by Dave Walko, a local fisherman with a great idea. Dave has graciously pledged a generous contribution to our fundraiser based on his sales the day of the event, so be sure to check out his simple and slick device, and buy one or two. They make great Christmas Presents!

We are pleased to welcome John Nagy, author of Steelhead Guide, Fly Fishing Techniques and Strategies for Lake Erie Steelhead. He will be at the Big run Banquet selling and signing the fourth edition of his book which was just released this year. John has generously donated a signed leather bound copy of this new volume to be auctioned at our fundraiser. I am sure you, like I, will be looking forward to meeting John and discussing many of the great tips in his book.

Once again I remind you that an event like this does not happen by itself. We need your help to reach out fundraising goal. From purchasing tickets to raising donations, or volunteering to help with your participation is vital!

So what sort of things do you need donations for?

From products used at the event like plates and napkins, to door prizes and items to auction, we will appreciate any and all donations to our fundraiser.
Fishing supplies
Gift Cards
Restaurant
Fishing Rods/Reels
Guide/Charter trips
Outdoor Apparel
Lodging
Tackle or other gear

For a copy of our 2008 Donations Request Letter, please use the contact information below or download it from our website.
Please contact Greg Young at greg@gy-cc.com or (724)584-7984 with your donation pledge
or if you can help with the event.
Volunteers working with us the day of the event receive a special event gift!

The best way to keep Browns fans out would be to put a goal line at the entrance.  They won't be able to figure out a way to get across.

Unfortunately, due to my work schedule, I can't attend. Tried to switch w/someone - no go. Really gonna miss it. Always had a great time, saw some old friends & met some new ones and won some nice prizes. To all who attend, have a great time and lift one for me...........................Dave

Get your tickets in and your membership renewed. Looks like there will be steel in the streams, fish the morning and come for the pig roast lunch, and get out and fish some more. Looks like a good program for the new and experienced Steelhead fishermen.

Spoon posted that tickets can be purchased at the door. Is there a specific number of tickets being sold? I plan on attending with another person but do not yet have tickets and want to be sure we're admitted.Any input would be appreciated.

Sending my tickets (raffle) hope they get there in time - procrastinated too long. As stated before, can't attend due to work schedule (238 calender days to retirement - not that I'm counting). To all my friends I've met over the years I hope the weather cooperates and everybody has a great time and makes it home safely.  Dave

It's only $15 to become a yearly member of the Pennsylvania Steelhead Association.  The membership starts October 1st and ends September 30th, so now is the time to contribute and join.  I've been a member for the past seven years and I regret that I will not be able to attend this year.  Much like Racinray, this will be the first Big Run Banquet that I will not be able to attend since becoming a member.  I wish it was on a Sunday, wink...wink.  Have fun guys!
