SEPERATION

We went glassing tonight nothing like the last time out.Alot more doe then buck maybe two bucks per group usely just one.Three weeks ago we spotted 9 bucks laying together two big ones and 5 descent and 2 scrubs.Any of you guys got a prediction for the rut this year yet?

Late and great.  I'm gonna try to be out as much as possible on November 8,9,and 10.

Peak breeding in Pa. is always around November 15th, give or take a day or two.  There will be a trickle before and after.  I know the moon theories that say different but I will stick to what the roadkill studies show here.
 
I always take vacation during the chase phase and my experience has shown that I see peak movement from November 3rd to about November 8th.  Heat can slow it down though during daylight.  My vacation is scheduled through November 12th this year.
 
 

The "moon folks" are saying the rut should be just slowing down a few days before rifle season this year ?????
 
I've always counted on the middle to end of November as good ruting times...
 
 
BUT considering the poor harvest figures for opening day last year (and most of the rifle season) it should be great hunting on opening day rergardless of the rut ........  :) :)

I subscribe to the moon theories as far as peak activity periods during the day based on moon position.  My records over the past 7 years show those times to be fairly accurate corresponding to #s of deer seen, and when one of those periods falls around sunup or sundown then things get really good.
 
I am making up a hunting calendar that lists seasons start and end times for the +20 zone as well as the major and minor activity periods for every day through the end of january.  Anybody intrested is welcome to one.
