Is Erie ready for the invasion?

Just wondering if Erie will be rolling out the red carpet for all us steelhead mad men when we start arriving. If not the red carpet, what color carpet will it be this year? Always have enjoyed the people of Erie and how they tolerate such an invasion. What would be an appropriate gift to give a local land owner who at the end of last season gave us a ride back up to our vehicles about 2 miles away. He didn't have to do it but he did! Would like to show my appreciation to him because we never did go back up again! Would like to hear from you guys on this subject.

    Gadabout,
        A gift certificate to a resturant or even Wally World is always nice.  Heck even a booklet of Mc Donalds coupons would be a nice gesture.  Any kindness on your part will only improve relations with the landowners.  I think it's a nice touch and you are to be congratulated.

    Perhaps not a gift card as you don't know where they frequent or what they want.  Just give them some cash.  If they refuse it, just be very persistent and evenually they'll take it.  In fact, they're probably still thinking that ******* from last year that I gave a ride to didn't give me ****.

    We used to fish on private property, with permission, on Johnson's Creek up in New York. The landowner had a pig farm. We would drop off a ham, (I loved the irony), and a big rope of kolbassi. He really appreciated the gesture.

    Every one that I have encountered while fishing in Erie has been very friendly.

    On this board you will see people whining about Muppers but they are only internet whiners that hide.

    Give a local some flies, eggs or skein.

    We are expected to get some cool rain, should start to bring more steelhead into Elk Creek.
    Please remember, do not litter, if you see some, please pick it up and put in trash container. This will keep land owners and the next folks happy to enjoy a clean creek to fish.
