Deer population spike....

Been spotting this week....Everywhere I spot I see deer it seems.  When I see doe they are being joined by 2-4 little ones as well who all look strong and healthy.  I guess the bad opening week in PA last season and semi mild winter lead to a good breeding season and many survived....Have been seeing some excellent Buck as well this week.

Has anyone else been seeing alot of little ones as well?

I've gotten a bunch of twins on camera and have seen a few triplets.   Lots of 3.5 and a few older bucks around this year.  I finally got to meet my neighbor that shot a 153" 12 pt. a couple hundred yards away from where we take most of our bucks.  He says there was a bigger one with him last year and they saw him this summer.  Sorta got me excited!!!

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

The wife and father-in-law glassed a few fields last night and said there were a BUNCH of deer in an area that hasn't seen deer in a while. Been seeing really nice bucks and a lot more deer on the way to the office in the mornings.

For my fishing reports, product reviews, stories, and other nonsense...

Thank you you Jesus for the rainy rifle season last year and no snow! I stopped at my camp in Norhtern Butler yesterday and took a short walk to see if any signs of deer around and yes there is. Seen quite a few tracks approx. 1" wide so I know there are a good number of fawns hanging around. I haven't seen this many tracks in 6 or 7 years. We made a rule at our 2 camps, kids are the only ones allowed to shoot the doe, no adults. That has made a drastic difference the last couple years. Another thing that hepled is a mining company that owns around 5000 acres posted all there property NO ATV"S walk in only. I guess people are to lazy to hunt up there without atv's. And by the way I love the antler restrictions. I will be sure to harvest a trophy again this year! Good luck to all this season and stay safe in those trees.

I have 8-10 different deer and 12 turkey daily on my 3.5 acres just out of the City of Pittsburgh. Maybe I'll take a ride tonight with the spotlight and take some pics. If I find any nice ones I'll post pics and coordinates! LOL!

Just keep in mind that all those does that the adults are "not allowed" to harvest eat all winter long and that takes away much of the valuable food sources from any bucks that survive the season to eat to replace lost weight and body fat lost during the rut and as a result will have slower antler development in the spring... :

Can't figure out these contradicting statements though ?????
