knife sharpeners
what do you guys use to sharpen fillet knives. noticed that some of my rapala 4" knives are getting dull and have always been a pain to put an edge on using stones. any recommedations other than electric knives. (have one, use it to carve turkey..).

Rap i bought a 3 stage knife sharpener that goes from carbide, to steel rods, to ceramic to finish the edge. It is amazing how it sharpens pocket knives, to my field knife for deer, to some serrated blades as well. Puts a razor sharp edge on the blade and is pretty inexpensive. heres a link http://www.knivesplus.com/smithsknifesharpenersm-cscs.html
CB I never thought I'd say this, but I love my Sport-Craft!

I use a lansky sharpener and it puts amazing edges on everything I have ever tried. Fillet knives take a bit more time because the blades are more flexible, so you have to be careful not to flex the blade when sharpening.
Better too far back, than too far forward.

Another vote for Lansky. I use the standard set, with a coarse, medium, and fine stones. I have had the diamond set, and they don't sharpen for crap. I did buy the extra coarse blade, which is for putting a rough edge on really dull blades; and an ultra-fine stone, that only seems to dull the edge I put on with the medium stone. But the stone set works perfectly for a dangerously sharp edge. Combine that with a Forschner cimetre blade butcher knife for fileting Steelhead, and you can give away your electric knives. I use that blade for fileting out Salmon and Steelhead in MI, and then use a lighter blade to filet the rib bones out. FAST. Keep your fingers out of the way of that blade.
