The water level has been low.  Dace is right.  The Petersburg Hydroelectric dam stands between you and the lower part of the river.  While I belive that the dam is mostly a shallow mess, it is several miles long and widens the river significanly.  Last week, below the dam, the water was the lowest that I have seen it in 3 years during the summer.  Some forcasted rain in the next day or two may help your cause.  It is so dry though, that the ground would be able to suck up a couple of slow inches of rain without a problem!

Check some maps of your planned trip.  You may be much better off launching your trip below the Petersburg dam.  There is an access point (read primitive boat launch) directly below the breast of the dam.  The old launch at Mill Creek, though, to my knowlege, has been closed to the public for quite some time.  Unless you are going with somebody else who has made this trip recently, a bit of research may prove very useful.  I would bet that there will be much paddling and canoe walking involved.  Especially if you plan to do this trip during the daylight hours of 1 day.

Yeah I am aware of the **** and I have done some research, we plan on leaving Barree around 2pm Friday and would like to be at the dam by dark to camp, then Saturday make it down stream from Huntington to camp on an Island and then take a 1/2 day sunday to get to Mill Creek........

I am telling you for the last time, the rainbow in my avatar was caught on the little j, the one your thinking of was at spring creek.............

    Avatar, Fair hooked......

    Spring Creek.......Foul Hooked......

And I had this fish far hooked, on the top fly and when Jim tried to net it, it turned and the hook popped out but then it got caught up in the dropper and I was able to land it.......ask Barnett......

    Sculpin,
Drove over the Little J at Tipton on my way to Glendale last night.  It was significanly higher and muddier than I ever thought it could be.  Do not get me wrong, the stream bed was not evn full yet, but it was higher and darker than the last time it rained. . .that seems like months ago though anyway.  I hope that you get out and I hope you enjoy!
