Groundhog question?

Groundhog question?

Does anyone know how to guestomate the distance of a groundhog by say holding a kitchen match out at arms length and if the hog is the size of the tip it about how far?? Or other common items held at about 3 feet from hand??

    Heck yes, there are a number of ways we did it back in the sixties but why would you want to do that today? Buy a $180 range finder and quit guessing. with a match or straight pin you have to estimate the size of the chuck as well. They worked well on deer with the bow but not so well on small game.
