Niagra River

I am new to the board..I have never fished the Niagra River for Steelhead but have seen you tube videos.  When do the steelhead enter the river and are there a lot of shore line access points?  I would either Center Pin or Spinner unless Fly Fishing is an option.

Leadman,  Thanks for the info.  I do have a boat but it is only a 16 ft. alum. with a 15 HP Yamaha.  From you tube, it looks too fast for my comfort.  Thanks for the report.

i seen a guy in the hole with a 12ft alum and a 9.9 merq would turn my hair gry but i go into the hole with a 16ft i had a 80 on it went down to a 35hp and a 9.9 as a kicker you can fish the slower holes around lewiston or youngstown dam good fishing there the only reason ill fish the hole is the fish mill around the rough water eaither on the american side or on the canada side ruel of thumb if your fishing can water have a lis if not the can take your boat and in some cases the truck and all equipment and i m sure its a long walk from canada i put a trip together in the fall and sometimes spring at ice out

You should be able to launch either at Ft Niagara or Lewiston and fish the Stella drift just fine with your boat.  Weather permitting of course.

One downfall to fishing the Lower is that during the increasingly turbulant Great Lakes fall season we sometimes go weeks without decent clarity due to strong SW or W winds. Gotta watch the weather (wind) very close if traveling any distance. Also, there is a severe shortage of decent tackle shops in the vicinity of Lewiston. Used to have Devils Hole Tackle, Downriver, and so forth, but in the past years it's been a real toss up as to what will be available. Can't go wrong with the quality of the fishing and the experience in general though, and Kings in the fall is one way to make sure you keep coming back for more. Good Luck.
