Who makes Boat covers?

I need a new boat cover.I remember reading here about Amish made covers in western Pa.But info on anyone that makes covers will do.I tried the search but no good.Perhaps the subject was on the old board.Thanks in advance.

There is a small shop in New Kensington that makes boat covers. I go past it every day but don't know the name of it. I can get the name Monday and let you know if you want.

I highly recomend Conneautville canvas,They have done all of my boat covers and even made a wall tent for me.Their quality and prices can't be beat.

A friend of mine had an amish canvas job done on his 22' and it is absolute junk, crappy material and sloppy.  One of the nicest covers I have seen was done by the lady in Jamestown,  I think she was located by contacting the boat dealer there.

Conneautville Canvas can't be beat. Custom fit around rod holders etc. and reinforced at all wear points. He'll customize it any way you want. I can't beleive his price for such a quality cover. Cheap! I just sold a boat with one of theirs and it was in as good of condition as the day I bought it. Man that material is SOLID. The new boat will be at Emanuel's place real soon.

Didn't like Sunbrella because of it's inability to breathe.  I opted for Top Gun, and couldn't be happier.  It's breathable and a tad bit heavier than Sunbrella.

Trout About, I think your confusing sunbrella with some other fabric. Sunbrella breathes very well. It is also exceptional in it's ability to resist deteriorating from exposure to UV. It's probably one of the most popular fabrics for boat covers / canvas. Where sunbrella is not superior is it's overall "toughness". It's not the best fabric for a trailerable cover. Top Gun is definately a good choice for a trailerable cover. But for mooring covers, bimini tops etc, sunbrella is the way to go.

Guys I don't know the name of the material that Conneaut Canvas uses exclusively but I don't think you could ask for a heavier more durable one. I'm pretty sure they just tracked down the best stuff available since their business depends on word of mouth only, they do not advertise. I know tons of people who bought covers there and to my knowledge none have ever had to go back for anything. Never had mildew, fading (mine is grey) or any problems with stitching or snaps. Maybe you could call and ask what the brand of material is. And don't forget, material is only half of the product.... workmanship is the rest. I can honestly say that the one on the boat I just sold will probably last a lifetime.

Actually I was referring to his original mention of the amish.  I don't know a thing about Conneautville.  The job my friend had done was here near Leesburg.

You could also try Tarp America. They make boat covers. Their address is Murrysville but they are on Rt 380 east of Rt 366. Had them make a 12 x 40 tarp two years ago cost was $225. It was made with the same material that tractor trailer tarps are made of. Don't know what they would use for a boat cover, but you could call to find out. Brad, I have had about 7 boats from 16 to 24 ft. in my life, and all but my last one has had sunbrella covers on them. And they all leaked in a hard rain. I now have Aqua knot material and am very happy!

Sunbrella will leak if not treated. I treat mine annually with 303 Fabric Guard (recommended by the manufactorer of Sunbrella) and it does not leak. The key advantage to sunbrella is that it does not deteriorate due to UV exposure like so many other fabrics do. Even if it were to let a little bit of water in, there's no harm in that. Afterall, boats are made to get wet. The primary purpose of the cover is not so much to keep water out, but to keep UV and dirt out. Aside from lack of maintenance, UV is the worst enemy of boats.
