Rock Bass and Bluegills

We are going up this weekend, May 31st.  We were up two weekends ago and we caught about 30 average sized bluegills, no rock bass.

Anyone doing any good in the bays for panfish?  I hope we are able to find the rock bass this weekend!!!

I took my daughter to Elk Creek Access boat launch Area (West side) on Saturday, the 24th.  We caught around 30 rock bass there, fishing from the rip-rap.  I just fished a third of a nightcrawler on the bottom with a couple split shots.  They were fun to catch, for me as well as a 3 year old kid.  We also managed to haul in a 13 inch brown trout, a 22 inch sucker, 1 lonely bluegill and I hooked into what must have been a huge carp.

It ripped my line from the boat launch to the 1st bend toward the lake before spitting the hook.  There was absolutely no stopping that fish with 6 pound line.  I thought I was going to get spooled.

We got 20 or so rock bass (mostly on shad raps) and 10 or 12 bluegills while we were bass fishing on the 25th and the 26th.  We were primarily fishing near the shore in the stretch between Perry's landing and the Erie Yacht club.
