Bald Eagle area

Hello everyone,

Jim here.  I'm new to this website, never knew about it.
I did add a link to my clubs website www.yspa.net.

I will be going up to Bald Eagle this weekend with a few friends to do some trout fishing.  I havent seen anything about how the fishing has been there.
Will be staying at the Park in one of the YURTS.
(These old bone can't take sleeping on the ground anymore.)

We do the catch/release unless we get a bad hookup and the fish doesn't look like it will survive. We use spinners with the barb filed off and a couple of the guys use fly rods.

We sometimes fish Spring Creek catch a few and release them.

We've tried to find other streams but we haven't been lucky in finding them.

Hope it doesn't rain too much this weekend.

If anyone has any suggestions you could post it here or e-mail me at jimd6121@comcast.net .

Thanks Jim

    Hi Jim
The creeks are running high and the bad part is they are calling for more rain.
The good news is ,they just stocked the lower Bald Eagle on the 13 so there should be allot of fish still in the creek

Just as long as it's not flowing over the banks like a few years ago.

If they are high and muddy take a ride to the East Branch of the Clarion River, lots of fish, did well the last 2 weekends.Controlled by the dam, will handle more rain. Go to the fish commision web sight, trout stocking, what county you want, gives you a map and gps cord.Being a fellow Marine,I know you can read a map. Enjoy the fishing.

Considering the high water and some rain.

We did OK, caught/landed about 30-40 trout Fri and Sat. Lost some because of the current.
We caught a few crappies but they were all on the small side.
The water was up but not as much as you would think,  It was just discolored enough.
If it would have rained a little longer and harder they only way you would have caught any
fish was to use C-4 and a couple nets.

My son landed a nice 16 incher (sorry no photos).

We're looking for a new place to go next year. Any suggestions?  (Would like a campground to stay at).

Jim, glad to see that you caught some fish in those conditions.
When Bald Eagle is high and muddy you cam always go to the mountains and fish Six Mile and Black Moshannon creek.

That was going to be my suggestion, if you want a place to camp in centre county. Theres some campgrounds on the Little J too. This time of year the river is HOT for smallmouth. Dont rule that out...Juniata. Not little j... the actual Juniata.

We fished Six Mile on Monday on our way home.  Never fished it before.
At the bridge and below was for kids on this week. Sso we tried going up stream and caught nothing.  Water was running pretty
    fast and we caught nothing.

Didn't try Black Moshannon, maybe next time.

The name of the road is Steel Hollow Rd. you were right.
