Anyone know of a fly that looks like a small rainbow/brown trout fingerling?

Olive over light pink over white polar fiber with a couple of strands of pearl flashabou on the sides.
Tied reverse style, equaling pulled back and head epoxied.
Yes, I do stick on eyes for this pattern.

    TT,
Have you ever priced a jungle****cape... I know, I know.. i justified 5g's in other materials, whats another $100 right? Theres so few patterns I tie that call for it, most patterns i see are salmon. Ive never tied a salmon fly, as I have never fished for them.

You don't have to pay $100 for a cape. If it's just for fishing, you can get them for under $65.

    You can try Fisherman's Feathers.

Nobody on the Fly Tying Forum has anything bad to say about them. They are a little more expensive at $79.95 for a C grade, but I have a feeling you will probably get a better quality than an Ebay pelt. Or you could buy a half pelt for $59.95. I think they just cut off any feathers that aren't nails.

This pattern I call the BA Minnow
    Excellent rainbow pattern
It's heavily weighted with lead, Depth advantage dubbing and dumbell eyes for fast deep rivers.

Almost exactly, but I didnt wrap over my white other then right behind the eyes. and i went just a tad heavier, looks like your pink is bucktail, I used synthetic sparkle hair type stuff (not krystal flash), forget what its called. I really need a better camera... That bottom fly is pretty cool looking, a little to big for what I was looking for.

This might be a tacky first post, but as far as JC nails go, I either skip them entirely or sub the irridescent starling body feathers (trimmed slightly, coated with flex seal and add a dot each of orange and white acrylic paint). The trout don't seem to mind these as subs and they're a whole lot cheaper than those cheesy-looking synthetics available on the market.

The juv. brown trout I tie goes like this:
    Size #10 4XL or 6XL Hook
    Dark Brown 6/0 thread
Tailing = Tan Turkey Flat fibers or similar colored sub
Body = dubbed Natural Aunt Lydia's Rug Yarn
Rib = fine gold oval tinsel
Wing = sparse amounts of Yellow dyed bucktail, then orange dyed bucktail, topped with Orangish Fox Squirrel.
Throat = sparse - same material used for tail
Cheeks = (Optional) Starling body feather - modified as already stated.

    My brown went

Olive over top of Orange and 3 strands of red crystal flash, over brown, over white, with lead dumbell eyes with flat stick on prizm eyes glued on the ends.
