Lock Haven area

Considering relocating to Clinton County and am interested in fishing opportunities specifically around Lock Haven. I am already familiar with the great trout fishing, looking for info. about other species and waters.

Thanks,
Bob

sayers is just down the road, w/ cats, bass ,perch, etc. we fish there a lot. walleye are in the river below lock haven, never caught them any higher except in curwensville.

the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Nut is correct, from lock haven to a ways up river the susquehanna is considered biologically dead. I do believe it may come back. Ive seen a stragler here and there.

Wow, that's interesting, explains why info. on that area is so hard to find on the web. What was the cause? Pollution?

Acid mine drainage.  From the moshannon creek confluence down is pretty polluted.  There may be a few cats and carp but nothing worth casting at.

Bush dam.....if you are after some bass.  Even lower Kettle will hold some smallmouth when the water warms up in the summer.

Hopefully something is being done about it, the technology to fix AMD problems is out there and has been in use for many years. One stream in particular near me used to be the color of orange juice and completely lifeless due to AMD. After efforts by area watershed groups and the local TU chapter that stream now contains naturally reproducing brown trout and smallmouth bass populations. It's amazing how quick mother nature can fix things with a little help from her friends.

i work in a sewer plant that discharges into the moshannon creek. this year i've started taking water samples from where ever i fish. the ph above the plant is 4.96, further downstream it gets even worse. at the rte 53 bridge it is 4.12. i haven't been able to check below the plant, it's too swampy. but the effluent from the plant is around 6.5. it would be even worse if i didn't add 300# of lime every day.figured i'd start a data base to see how the water qualitys will change over the years.

    Outdrwriter,
Many years ago A friend and I drifted the river from below Grassflat down (took all day)  Where there are small streams coming into the river there are some fish, and the small streams do hold some fish.  But there are some small streams that are still bright orange and we couldn't even find evidence of bugs in the creeks, not even crayfish.   But it is a totally beautiful drift for the young and strong.  (which I am not anymore)   Almost pristine in some spots, if you don't look at the river.  A good rule of thumb is: if the waters' green it's good, orange is bad!
