heading up 5th and 6th

Heading to erie this weekend and heard the suckers were Running like crazy. Are they in all the tribs? And what of the smaller tribs are the steelhead still in them?

I think you will find steelies in the creeks.  I fished Walnut this afternoon and managed to hook a few.  Good luck.

not as plentiful as fall/winter,  but there are some in there.

I encourage you to re read what you just wrote and think about the opportunities other places you fish that have the same problem.

There are definitely steelies in the streams.  I fished Elk today and hooked a couple.  There are A LOT of suckers as well.

If you're strictly a catch and release guy, the suckers can be as much fun to catch as anything.  Some even claim they're good to eat too.

We had some rain last night and it is raining this morning.  The creeks were in great shape yesterday, so if we don't get too much rain, the fishing ought to be fine.  They are calling for showers tomorrow morning, but it should clear out by the afternoon.

For those who like to catch the suckers.... they just were all over a pink glo bug and copper johns yesterday....  BTW - suckers do give a pretty good fight.

    Good luck.

I just got back from Erie and both Elk and Walnut are blown out.  It is still raining and we are supposed to get more tonight.  If you are coming up tomorrow, be ready for high water.

If the creeks are still blow out tommorrow the P.I. might keep you busy. If the rain goes away the tribs should start dropping Sunday.

Im no sure what your talking about jlh. I was more or less wondering if the suckers infested crooked like they do elk. And if the steelies stuck to the smallers tribs like that even tho that water sometimes warms faster then larger bodies.  I know there is plenty of chrome in elk and walnut.

Im all about catching suckers especially on my 4wt. Never got a chance to catch any erie suckers tho and wouldnt mind keeping one to try to taste. Got some really good sucker patties recipes
