Variant names and spellings[edit]

According to the Geographic Names Information System, Conneaut Creek has also been known historically as:[1]
  • Caneaught Creek
  • Conneaut River
  • Coneaught Creek
  • Conneaugh River
  • Conneought Creek
  • Conyeayout Creek
  • Counite Riviere
Think I'll stick to spelling it "Connie Crick"!

Boy the PA. fish commission could have a field day handing out fines on Connie Crick in Crawford county

All anglers fishing in the waters of Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, and their tributaries including waters that flow into those tributaries are required to possess a valid Lake Erie permit or Combination Trout Lake Erie permit. The main tributaries where a permit is required are: Cascade Creek, Conneaut Creek, Crooked Creek, Eightmile Creek, Elk Creek, Fourmile Creek, Mill Creek, Raccoon Creek, Sevenmile Creek, Sixmile Creek, Sixteenmile Creek, Turkey Creek, Twelvemile Creek, Twentymile Creek, and Walnut Creek. A permit is also required for all of those waters that flow into these main tributaries. Anglers fishing the East and West Basin ponds (Waterworks Ponds, Presque Isle State Park) are not required to possess a Lake Erie Permit. Anglers fishing inland ponds, lakes, and reservoirs in Erie County are not required to possess a Lake Erie Permit.

Wouldn't even be able to set a minnie trap in any feeder streams or tiny trickles that flow into the streams posted above without a permit. Gettin' border by the min.

Now Tim just messaged me he has another tractor trailer of mostly Renosky lures getting delivered to my place next week. Sorry about the venting but I have to let it out.

Tim, I'll check the lake for you tomorrow, Might take a rod and swim bait just in case.

Chris -
I have some work in Clarion tomorrow.  If it is still light out after I am done, I might swing by and toss some swimbaits with you.  I really don't know if I will get out in time though.  Pretty much there until I am done.

The wind hasn't showed up yet and the rain only lasted a few hours. Didn't hear the water rescue vehicles go past last night so that was good.

The lure company threw in 4 more pallets yesterday and 22,000 more spoons today at no extra cost. I can't catch a break!!

Yeah he does stuff but no type of online store. He goes live once in awhile when he wants to unload a little bit of crap. He just sent me a quote on getting a building put up. Fish USA is a tackle business and don't want to interfere with them or get banned.

He is outside now making 2,000 drop shots or something for a dude. I told him he is nuts when he has literally many tons of stuff like that already professionally made and ready to go. His answer was "$2,000 is $2,000"  smh

Might go hit the lake in a hour or so if the wind don't pick up to bad.

Lake is half covered. Definitely some open water. You may need to drive spot to spot to find the open areas. A lot of “icebergs” floating around, so areas can open/close.

Wasted trip. Very disappointed. Only productive part was talking to the guys with Towne Marine from Bloomsburg. Looked at a couple beautiful boats. One Starweld one Starcraft. Both were 18ftrs and both were in that $40 to 50K range. They did have a fantastic 20ft Skeeter Great Lakes boat with 300 Yamaha on it. All the trimmings for $107K 🤪🤣. Maybe those Cash 5 numbers I play will come out sometime soon...🙄😆.

Are they up to Rt. 5 yet?

A few dinks has me debating to get out again.  I did my first skunking of the year last week with Crappy.  I would have crushed fish if he wasn't there.   Or, more likely would have fell in or whatever is worse than just a skunking.

Debating if I want another ball kicking from those stupid fish, or is wasting money on boating/fishing gear good enough to hold me off?  I typically start fishing in early March and usually don't catch much...

Arthur was at least 2' below normal.  Anyone know if they raised it any?

They’re still releasing water out of the dam at the same rate they have been since mid December.

Thanks for the info.  I guess we need some rain to fill it up and keep whatever they are needing the water downstream for up to levels.

Flows coming out of the dam at Arthur aren't for downstream public water supplies or flood control.  It's all about maintenance and protection from ice for docks and marinas and recreation.  They'll prob dial back the flows here in the next couple weeks with the mild and drier than normal winter.

Took it out yesterday to blow the dust off. Didn't catch much, water was 41°. I knew we were in for a slow day with only 2 trailers at 528 launch.

What are you throwing for at Arthur at this time of year? Largemouth? Crappie? Walleye?

I got the bug bad this year. I’m ready to get out for something. Stockies. Whatever.

I could take the kayak out to glade run in another week or two after trout opens. I have some wading gear but I’m not 100% confident doing the cold weather wading thing for trout in a river, or I could put the boat in at Arthur…

But yea, I need to put a line in the water. What should I do?
