The Pack not looking too good this evening. Would probably be a good game against the Stillers.

Kenny looking just like many said his ceiling would be. But doing it this year. Maybe it is his ceiling. He is clearly getting better every week. Most analysts say he would be #3 QB in this class, likely higher than #20 pick. So, all and all, living out to be not a bad pick.

Steelers defense is completely underperforming for what they are paid. Enough to beat the Colts or Falcons, but will be hard pressed to keep them within range of a rookie QB against a playoff team.

Next week vs Ravens. Lamar, like most RBs, is dealing with the eventual injury. Could be ripe for Stillers picking.

Quarterbacks goin' down everywhere. Chicago, San Francisco, Baltimore. And Carolina's Baker Mayfield has asked to be put on waivers. Some tough spots late in the season.

The Colts were right in it until the 4th quarter last night. The Cowboys scored 35 points in the 4th quarter as the Colts disintegrated. The harder the Colts tried, the worse they got.

Never try to argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Hey if yinz get tired of watching football, there has been some great futbol matches to watch. It's gonna be Argentina and Portugal in the final. No better story than Messi vs Ronaldo in their final World Cup to try and win for the 1st time.

No one is beating Brazil. Especially with Pele hospitalized.

Watching a good game right now. Women’s college cup.

I can't resist.🙄😆. Neymar scores at the 105+1. The Croates answering with only 3 minutes left in extra time was almost miraculously. Brazil gets stopped on the 1st PK then their 4th goes off the post. Utterly amazing. Possibly the biggest upset on the World Sports stage. 🇵🇹 vs 🇦🇷 looking better n better. 🤞

Morocco beating Belgium (keeping the World's #2 team from advancing out of the group stage) was probably the biggest upset of the tournament.  Croatia was in the last World Cup finals, so it wasn't a ridiculous upset.  Luka Modric is one of the best center midfielders of all time.  That said, Brazil by far has the most depth of any team and top to bottom the most creative players in the world year after year.  Their B team would likely beat US by 2-3.

If those 2 games today aren't the text book case to open eyes to how great this tournament is, I don't know what will.

Heard they were wild. Shockingly I was actually on the tribs, and even more shocking - i caught some fish. Insane.

I just can't comprehend the **** running clock/extra time. From what I gather, its literally just the refs discretion of how much time is exactly remaining. It's insane to me.

When Luka Modric was 6, his grandfather was shot dead. His family became refugees, in a war-zone. He grew up to the sound of grenades exploding. Coaches said he was too weak and too shy to play football. 🥺

Luka Modric led Croatia to its first-ever World Cup final, won the Ballon d'Or, five Champions League titles with Real Madrid and many more trophies. 🇭🇷🏆

Now he has led Croatia to the semi-finals of World Cup 2022 at the age of 37. 🔥

That was copy and pasted… Just saw it and figured to add here. I would be just fine with them winning too. A win for Messi would be great too. Morocco really shocking the world would be insane. Most
Likely France winning again…. Mbappe is basically the player that the US roster would be filled with if our elite athletes played soccer.

Intriguing game today for the Stillers. With Jackson out, they have a shot, or at least a perceived shot…. Will be a huge test for the offensive line. If they can make some holes for the run game, I like the odds of them scoring enough. If they can’t, they will have issues with the pass rush and Kenny will have issues. If they can pull it off, it shifts focus from the draft. They aren’t making the playoffs, but developing the younger guys, playing all out to win, is much more important than tanking for the draft. This draft is deep for OT’s which is what they need to address. Pick 1-20 is going to grab one of the top 4 OT’s. None seem to really stick out. Dude from NW has best stats, but not facing SEC defenses to do it. Unless Kenny completely falls apart, he is the QB for at least the next 2-3 years, hopefully 15+.

No truer words were ever spoken👍. As we were watching the US n NED, I asked " Can you imagine if Tyrek Hill was out there on the pitch?" There's not enough money in it for the elite athletes in this country.

Even if you could convince every NCAA DII standout WR or DB when they were young to be soccer players, USA would be a consistent top 5 team. Speed isn’t everything in soccer, but it helps a lot… Throw endurance into it and the least bit of coordination and you are a good defender. If you convinced all of the NFL caliber guys, you are talking top 5 teams being USA A, B, C, D, and E, possibly more.

US is just so big and the whole Andy Ronney thing. Which may or may not be true. Jamaica having the fastest people in the world, with the population of 1/2 of PA, hmmm? This is not just Bolt too, they are always competing with countries 200 times the size. It is what it is, US is loaded with athletes.

Stillers game was a slob of trash that unfortunately didn’t smell into their favor. Key injuries on both sides. Mitch coming in and almost appearing to throw an INT any time it looked like they were on a roll. Keep it to 2 INTs and they win. I would have liked to see the D stand up at the end of the game, but overall, they played good enough to win.

Giving up 215 yards on the ground in 42 carries to a team with a terrible 2nd stringer and even worse 3rd stringer is an embarrassment for a Defensive minded coach like Tomlin.

Usually the defense can be somewhat of a bright spot. They were just as much garbage as the O and ST yesterday. Being one of the highest paid defenses in the league is a complete joke.

Re: Steelers 2022-23 2022/12/13 15:31:59 (permalink)
I think it is much more that American kids don’t see American soccer players making crazy cash. They don’t see or hear of their neighbors getting pro contracts or seeing them play professionally. There are a few pro players from my HS, a ton more from the surrounding area in the big 4 American sports. The local news always makes it a point to remind viewers that so and so is a local product. These kids see them and think they have a shot at that sport. International soccer has a ton of money, but most US kids don’t have that local link to the pros. There aren’t many SWPA products in MLS, yet any in international play. Pulisic is central PA, which is the closest. Soccer in central PA is growing from it. Soccer is also a rich kids sport in the US, just like hockey. It seems to have a model of pricing out the inner city kids.

That sums it , thanks T😁

I'll add, all those teams you named, Eyes, are across Tha Pond. MLS doesn't get near the exposure here. In Argentina, and through the Futbol world, Messi is the face of the game. If it wasn't for the FWC, no one could name, or even heard of, any players from the USMNT. You can't generate revenue without interest.

Look up what Barca paid Messi per year in his last contract. Not sure how accurate this is, but beyond insane!!!

https://en.m.wikipedia.or...rgest_sports_contracts

If correct, then Messi at the top and 100+ US based athletes after, before another international athlete. I tend to think this list is off. And definitely was different a few years ago during the prime of CR7 or Neymar.

To a kid from most inner city American cities, where a good portion of American Uber athletes are from, $40M per year from a list of 100+ athletes that they can relate to, most likely isn’t going to have them running to soccer for the extremely unlikely chance they can get a Messi level contract. Just as any Uber athlete from Brazil likely isn’t training for the NFL.
