Neshannock Creek Volant

Took a trip to Neshannock in Volant last Saturday, was well worth the drive to say the least.  Grannom Caddis were coming off all day long and some Tan caddis coming off late in the afternoon.  Very few fish rising considering the amount of bugs on the water.  Did extremely well with a Peacock wollybugger and a tan soft hackle.  2 over the 20" mark.  Creek is literally polluted with fish a lot of goldens were thrown in too.  fishing pressure was heavy given the nice weather we had and the amount of fish that were stocked but still plenty of places to fish if your willing to take a walk.  Good luck all.

A bad day fishing is always better than a good day working.

I had the same thing happen to me this week on Sandy Creek. The amount of bugs coming off was crazy and I just sat on the bank and watched. To my surprise I only seen a couple fish rise. I really don't understand what caused them not to rise more. Still a fun day out! TIGHT LINES.

Drove over the bridge today around 1030. Packed wall to wall. This always puzzles me. After the season opens, there are many, many other better stretches of water to work BELOW the Covered Bridge. Contrary to belief, bugs hatch all over the creek. We pounded them from the East Washington St Bridge down to Mill St. There are honestly hundreds of trout in every stretch from The China Club to Beer-for-Less. Ofcourse it's not as sexy as having the Orvis Shop in the background but whew kares?? They're just stocked trout. jus ask'IN jus say'IN...

Personally I won't even fish that stream anymore, definitely not the delayed harvest area. It's an ok stream tho I guess. I think there's much better options for me . I never understood why people stand there he's on end fishing frog water at the shop. And I very rarely buy anything from the shop unless I need it like right now all there material is trash orvis is some of the worst 🤮

I'd rather be lucky then good, but im to good to be lucky

It was my first trip to it, wanted to just check it out.  I fished down stream from the shop too many people fishing right there for my tastes.  Probably make a trip back and explore further downstream or up beyond the delayed harvest area.  Live close to Monroeville so options are limited down this way so it makes a nice day trip for me but will do some more exploring on other stretches of it.

They just float stocked the Neshannock last week I'm pretty sure. Also Oil Creek will receive a fall stocking on the 17th of October. TIGHT LINES!
