Burbot

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here fished for burbot? I've read a little bit about it and it sounds like fun. I also read that they have a heat sensitive enzyme that digests their meat when it dies, is this true? if you catch them at night like i've read how would you go about keeping them until the next day to eat? Thanks for any help, Jim

Ive caught lots of berbot yes they are fun to catch. As long as you dont mind hanging out on the peirs in inclement weather. Would like to put wheels on my ice shanty and haul it out on the peir. The enzime you talk about would be in the digestive system. So fileting them out as soon as possible probably would be recomended. They are usally still squrming when I get them home. If you freeze them they turn to rubber so eat them up soon. Best long time storage I like is pressure canning.

Thank you, I am going to try tonight around 7 pm with some pickled minnows from****s sporting goods. are they good bait or should I use a live minnow? I was planning on going just after it got dark, I read that's when the bigger fish come into the bay. Thanks again
