The Field and Stream Eagle Talon 120

I am just starting to get into this stuff, and stumbled across this kayak, it is relatively inexpensive for the features, and looks like it has decent build quality.
I was wondering if anyone currently owns one and could tell me if you ran into any issues with it.
Thanks.

I got one it goes on sale in the spring just gotta watch the price. The only problem I had is that none of the screws where tightened down other than that it’s a great kayak.

That is a good looking fishing kayak.

Try talking to a manager at****s next time there.  Ask if the 20% off coupon that local sports programs is good for use on it.  They have some restrictions.

Just about every community sport program that my kids have done, has a****s day or weekend that has a 20% off your entire order.  I have bought canopies and fishing gear with mine before.  These big ticket items might not be part of it.  If they are, then do a little search around your area for some clubs that might have the same deal.  Winter sports are going to be rough going this year with covid and schools not renting out their gyms.  Spring soccer, baseball and softball should have them.  I know they do locally.

Heck, for a kid asking him, he might even give you 20% off...  Those things take up a good bit of space and not something they want to drag in and out of storage.  Stores will barter on things like this at times.  Now would probably be a good time to try.

thanks, will do. Its not in store at Erie though sadly, so im hoping something else comes up. I know our Field and stream just got  bought out, so i might go there and see if they are trying to move Field and stream branded stuff, because if they are, im assuming they will likely sell for less. worth at try, thanks for the help

Truck will work but I suggest using a bed extender.  Numerous brands but his one will do just fine:  https://www.harborfreight.com/truck-bed-extender-69650.html?_br_psugg_q=bed+extender

My first fishing kayak was similar in size and design.  Sold it because I felt it was too heavy to car top, but quickly regretted that.  At 12' and 30" wide, it is the sweet spot for fishing kayaks, IMO.  Should track well for you and be stable enough for most conditions, small lakes or large, and even class I-II rivers.

quick question to Anyone who owns this boat, is the seat really that bad? it looks cheap, but does it become that uncomfortable that quick? Just wondering.

also, Thanks PaYakr for the advice, glad to see that there are people out there willing to help others get into the sport.

It should fit in a truck bed. It might stick out a little so use a red flag. I just put it on my roof rack.

Yes the seat is very uncomfortable but it can be easily modified to what you want.

I have that truck bed extender and works great. I use it for a lot of other things including a 12’ John boat. The HF bed unloading device is great too...

If a seat is ever bad, REI and others sell stick on foam seats.

An edit from my original post. My yak was bought new for that much. A cheapo****s yak from the time. Back before many sit on tops, so went with a sit in. Would definitely do sit on if I got another. Although staying dry in cold temps is nice. The peddle ones look awesome, but expensive. The thing that irritated me the most with kayaks was getting to where I wanted to fish and by the time I got my paddle away and anchor ready, I would drift away and have some odd casting angle.

Just saw one of these listed for sale (used) in Kittanning for $300.00.  That is a steal any time of year.
