Any Spoon Fisherman out there?

Hey guys,
I am launching a new lure line this spring/ Summer and was wondering if there are any serious spoon fisherman out there that would like to try them out/abuse them and let me know how they perform.  I know the steel are sluggish right now and jiggs are definately the ticket but maybe when the water warms up they will get a little more aggressive.  I will also have a line of trolling spoons so if any of you SERIOUS spoon fisherman out there want to test a few out shoot me a e mail telling me:
-How often you fish the great lakes and tribs
-what species you fish for
-what color spoons you prefer
-what weight and length you usually use
-address to mail the spoons to.

based on what kind of response I get I may not to give out spoons to all who request but I will try my best.

Thanks alot guys!

I use spoons on lots of different fish. Especialy pike, as I find that I can manouver the depth I fish with a spoon even while casting. I would like to buy a few off you.

They should be finished by mid april, I am designing the packaging for them right now along with deciding on what hooks to put on them, I am thinking Owner, Mustad, Gamagatsu or Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp.

Thanks for any input on what you would like to see as far as color and finish, length and weight.

As always this sight and its members are always very helpfull.

    thanks again guys!

I will be excited to see what you have developed.  I have always been partial to mustad hooks on the bucktails and jerkbaits I make.  They are the hardest hooks I have found to cut out of a fish, but there are less options when you are using ones for large bucktails and such.  I was also always a fan of the heavier spoons like the cleos because you could control them more with the rod, instead of having to use retrieve speed.  Just my .02.  Good luck with them.

they are the heaviest that I could make them and still have good action, they will all come standard with stainless split rings, lazer or sycle style hooks and a finish that nobody that I know of in the fishing industry is doing right now.

I would love some input on what kind of colors you guys would like to see for certian species though that would help me out a ton!

Thanks for all the help guys!

I once saw to fellas usuing 1/8s for steelies on elk. I was using the same, but just a plain one. They had a green/orange dotted pattern on them. And while I was doing alright, for every 1 fish I caught, they landed 4.
I don't know if this is a common pattern, but I just cant find them anywhere!

My favorite color by far looks like this only the green is overlain in scale instead of straight spray

I like this color combo a lot...I also like the chartruse with orange.  And black with chartruse diamonds/ dots / scale whatever

Send me a few sizes in brown trout pattern and I'll tell you what I don't catch with them.  Not too many spoons on the market in that pattern.  At least I haven't found any good ones.

You can never go wrong with blue- or green-chrome.   Any weedless styles?  I'm always looking for weedless, though you'll be hard-pressed to top a Johnson's.

watermelon, kevorkian, monkey puke, reverse kevorkian, trout, etc, etc.

I could give you a list.  I use spoons trolling Erie in the summer for walleye and steel.  I'd love to see what you have.

You've got to have a smelt pattern in the mix.  Emerald or Blue prism on a silver back is always killer...  Almost forgot, hammered Copper back with orange/black ladder on the front. All of the suggestions before mine are also great.

Black and white or solid black top.

If you have any that would fish well in a medium sized river, a long time favorite - Hus Lure is no longer in production from what I understand.  This lure was king of the Yough.  There is likely a pretty large amount of guys looking for that replacement "go to" spoon in SW PA.  They cast a bit smaller spoon than the steelhead casters or walleye trollers.  If you are planning to make some in a smaller sizes (1/8 - 3/8 oz), the bait shops close to the Yough River, might be a good market to try hitting.  There are some "displaced" spoon chuckers down that way.  Just make sure you give it a shot in some moving water.  Many other spoons have little use in that river though.  It seems that many spoons are better suited for still water.

I won't be much help in testing since I dont live near erie, but I must suggest Gamakatsu hooks!  Sharpest around.  Only drawback is that they are expensive.

Hey once you get them established let me know if you ever want to look at testing spreading out to other areas/species.  I'm a spoon fanatic.  I would gladly chuck them at every species I fish for and let you know how they do.

I'd try making some casting spoons in various weight/sizes in michigan stingers "chicken wing" color. It catches everthing trolling, should work well casting too.

Not sure if it's the color, or if it's just one that we always put back there, had some slow days when we darn near washed the paint off it, but when we did catch fish, it caught fish.

Any of the first 3 brands of hooks you mentioned would be ok with me, if I bought a spoon that had Eagle Claw lazer dull hooks on it, I'd change them.

Copper is really good for metal blade style lures like spoons, spinners, sonars. Both hammered and smooth work great. The effect of the diferent colors on the painted spoons is great but I like the spoons that are non painted on the other side to give some flash. Let us know when theyre done I would love to try some for trout and walleye.

I'm very familiar with the terms "RUN AND GUN" and "FISH ON!"

I will have them in pretty much all sizes probaby starting at about 1.5 inches up to 4-5 inches i didnt like the action o the very very small ones.  I will also have a minnow plug in 2 sizes and walley harnesses.  My websight should hopefully be done within 3 weeks.

    Thanks again guys
