Whats your opion?

I do alot of outdoor show watching in the winter. The commercial I am skeptical about is the All Star Rod one. They say they are the "Great American Rod Compay" in their add. But when I got all excited and went to the local sports store to buy some, thinking they were made in america, I found a "made in china" sticker on the butt end of them. I believe in buying american as much as possible. I dont look down at others that have foriegn made tackle. I have some my self, I must admit. But when they advertise " All American" and its made in china I tend to get ticked off.

    no doubt.
    I haven't seen the commercials.
but if it's as you described,
It's shifty, deceptive, slithery, split tongue snake marketing

I the same way. I like buy products made in the USA, but sometimes you have no other choice. St. Croix Avids and I think Legend Tournaments are made in the USA. Before anyone says it, I know they are pricey.

I guess all we can do is if you dont agree with it dont buy it.

I went to a concert last summer, Brooks & Dunn. they sang this song Only in America. They had all the armed forces represented on stage. Pretty cool i guess. But there Big Entrance to the stage started with a comercial being played on the jumdo tv screen behind the stage. It started out with these bull horns comming up through a lake. Well the Bull horns were attached to a Toyota truck. Again I say to each their own. But i cant see havin a hit song "Only In America" and get paid by toyota. I guess im confused and the rest of the world is ok. I need help!  I just need to go Fishing!

They used to be the "Great American rod company"  until they got bought out!  I can't even get the nice 9' H muskie trolling rod anymore...they are pretty much all geared toward bass now.  I think Shakespeare/Pflueger bought them.

OK guys, are you ready for this...  I've heard that the Toyota Tundra is the most American Made full size pick-up out there today.  I'm pretty sure Tundra is being built in Texas, yet the Ford is in Mexico, I think the Canada plant was closed some time ago.  I'm pretty sure all of the American Pickups are built outside of this country.

Now which truck is the most American?  Not looking for a fight, just thinking of the irony.

As was stated, All Star used to be all american until they were bought out.  They used to have a lifetime, no questions asked warranty too.  I know, I broke two Titaniums and just brought them into the store in Texas, showed a guy working in the dept., and he said just go grab the one you want and I'll write up the paperwork.  No more.

    Oh well.

My Chevy was assembled in Canada.  Some are still assembled in the U.S., I believe.

Scott, the Ford F150's are made in America (Dearborn & Kansas) The Super Duty's are American also (KTP) Some 150's were/are built in Canada but out of 52 F150's and 15 Super Dutys on my lot all were built in America (most in Dearborn) The first digit of the VIN tells you World manufacturer identifier  (1 = USA,2= Canada, 3= Mexico, J=Japan, etc. I haven't seen a 2 in an F150 in over a year. And, I know Fords, just ask Skip, I be selling those (junk - according to Skip) for over 17 years.. and only 16 more months to go.......  Dave

You a car guy Dave?  I sold cars while in college and after before I got my first programming job.  Money was good when it was good and bad when it was bad.  Good luck on the 16 and being free.

My statement is really general though.  Even if the truck is put together in Dearborn, where were the parts made?  Then where was the metal smelted?  Most likely India or Pakistan.  It's kind of like asking what does Made in America really mean if we go to the bottom of any manufacturing process?  It's a big world out there and as I get older I believe less and less of what I read.

The Honda accord is made in Marysville,Ohio, and according to my repair/service shop it is made of more american parts than any other car on the road.I have the 2006 v6 and it is really a sweet running machine with zero defects.
In this global economy of today very little is all USA made.

off and on since 1975 - 1983 then 1986 till present. Scott, right you are about cars being a sum of it's global parts, I was just stating final assembly being U.S. Each vehicle has parts content in %'s on the window sticker. Generally most "American" makes have at least 50% U.S. content though. Been sellin Fords since 1991 in Washington,Pa. Hey Skip, I knew I could count on your support ! You're killin' me !!!!!    Dave
