2014 CANADOHTA LAKE'S ANNUAL ICE FISHING CONTEST


  • Tourney Date: February 08, 2014
  • Tourney Time: 7am start to 4:30pm finish; prizes at 5:00pm
  • Registration: Registration is at the bait shop on Friday 02-07-14 8am-9pm or Saturday 02-08-14 as of 5am. If you need to register on Saturday, go to the bait shop. You may register any time Saturday (i.e., you don't have to be registered by 7am...if you show up at 11:45am or 1pm or 3:59pm and want to register, that's fine--go to the bait shop).
  • Registration Fee: $15 ( buy your ticket at bait shop 36320 Dutch Hill Rd. Union City, PA 16438  814-694-3474)
  • Optional 50/50 Drawing: You may buy a single ticket  for $5.  One ticket only per person.  You will include your name and phone number on the ticket.  Drawing to be held at 4:30pm at boat launch.  Winner need not be present.  Tickets may be purchased at the bait shop on Friday or Saturday. 
  • Fishing: Absolutely no fishing prior to 7am.  Jerry will be riding around checking.  Prizes awarded for largest, legal fish in various categories Musky, Walleye, Northern Pike, Crappie & Perch.
  • Bait: Get your bait Friday between 8am and 9pm or as of 5am Saturday morning.
  • Protocol: If you are fishing for large game fish prizes, put your fish on a stringer (sold at the bait shop) and call Jerry's cell or use a walkie-talkie so he can drive over and check out / measure your fish.  
  • Walkie-talkie: channel tbd; ask at the bait shop on Friday or Saturday.

    Results
    Despite temperatures of -11 below the morning of the annual Canadohta Lake Ice Tourney, it was one of our biggest turnouts in 9 years with 262 anglers braving the elements.  Thank you to all of our loyal friends and customers for participating in this year's event.  Here are the results. 
     
    No legal size musky or walleye caught. 
     
    Here are the winners:
    • NORTHERN PIKE 26 inches 4# 2 oz. Bob Keith, Cochranton, PA    Prize $500.00
     
    • CRAPPIE 11 3/4 inches Chuck Hicks, Corry, PA   Prize $150.00 
     
    • PERCH 12 1/16 inches Tim Egan, Pittsburgh, PA Prize $150.00
     
    • 50/50: $525.00 Neil Lyons, Pittsburgh, PA

    I think you should consider about a good gas-powered ice auger for that.
