Thanks everyone.

Dpms, been thinking about upgrading from the old horton for a few years to a newer faster xbow, but it keeps taking care of business. Little on the heavy side, but still shoots great. Packs a nice punch with the heavy bolts I have setup

Had a surprisingly eventful day even though I was not in a stand. Was doing dishes early this afternoon when I looked out the kitchen window and saw a nice buck creeping through the woods behind my shed. Was cutting up the doe from yesterday later in the afternoon. Looked out the door and caught a doe running across the yard into the woods. By the time I got out the door to go watch her for a minute there was a nice 8 chasing her. Went out and watched him chase her around the creek bottom for about 5 minutes before they disappeared. Entertaining afternoon.

Crappie_Slayer I think I see what you're saying.

Since arrival of our winter storm, I've seen no action but for a few tracks in the snow

Warming sun today put a diappearing act on most of the snow. Warmer and sunny again tomorrow should clear the the open ground and hopefully dry the muddy lane leading to the main road.

Counting down the days and I'm keeping fingers crossed the weather holds til launch time Wed morning.

In the meanwhile I'll keep my mind occupied trying to find, when the snow melts, where does the white go? 🤔

Hunt safely, aim to kill.

Thunderpole, if ya got a copy, I hope all is going well and we soon see pictures. Good luck.

Cell service and internet in that area is really crazy, even more than here in the Pymatuning State Park Area.

RV park we stayed at said we'd need go to the "phone booth" in order to make a phone call. Turned out, the "phone booth" was a store a few miles down the road, where you might connect to a cell tower.

Here, I use a cell signal booster with success, out there.... forget it.

Hey not to change the subject, but very well worth mentioning... Gasoline prices in Kinsman is $2.269 for reg 87.

I buyed a whole tank full🤗

Nice looking buck Bighead.
Congratulations to all you successful hunters as for me the stickbow quest still continues.

My season was a success even though I didn’t kill any. Here’s a quick break down of my season
Hunted 34 times with an avg. of 3.25 hours a sit. 20 times out of a tree stand and 14 on the ground.
Had 214 sightings of deer, out of them there were 41 bucks(12 legal), 139 antlerless and 34 of unknown sex. Got busted drawing a few times and missed a chip shot on a nice buck with my long bow.

I’ll clean up my archery stuff today and break out the 99 savage for gun season, Good Luck for those still searching.

Mike

Thats a good season right there. I didn't get to hunt as much as I usually do because of a work schedule change. My archery breakdown is as follows;

-Hunted 18 times in WMU 2A and 2B
-Average sit was 6.75 hours due to all day sits at end
-Seen 43 antlered deer of which 16 were legal
-Passed up 9 legal bucks
-Missed a good one on November 2nd
-Shot an 8 point on November 13th

All in all, it was a great season. Weather was ideal as well the last two weeks. A tad cold but I will take cold over wet and warm any time.

**** you guys see a lot of deer! I like to keep a record of my archery hunts and I've never been close to seeing that many. Didn't get out nearly as much as I wanted to this year, but it ended up good with both a buck and a doe taken. Here's the breakdown.

14 sits = 35.5 hrs in the stand = 29 deer seen.
17 anterlerss
9 buck (6 legal)
3 UFO's

Already plotting in my head for next year

This guy was very photogenic.  The doe he was following hung around for awhile and he posed in front of the camera for over a dozen different video clips.  Got him and a couple other decent bucks on this camera over the past week and a half.  Did get one on cam I felt really bad for.  Has a bum back left leg (looks like a broken hip that has been that way for awhile as his right antler development is affected).  He was still on a does trail....

Nice videos e&g. Definitly feel bad for the buck with the bum leg. Amazing how tough these critters are

Thanks All,  DPMS when this buck walked into range and put the crosshairs on him he looked very light. after the fact and walking up on him I was ****. Never seen one with a redish tint before NICE.  Back in the day there was a heard of deer off 228 that were Black. Always thought I was just from maybe viewing so close to dark,  but one night found one hit by a car/truck whatever and stopped and no crap these deer were black well real close. I did in fact cut a piece of fur from her still have somewhere. Nobody at work believed about the black deer I was talking about , Well until I brought that fur in and showed them.  As for this season seen multiple shooter's and tons of doe. seen two bucks in the mourning hunt well which turned out to be a all day hunt LOL Well till 1PM Ehhh

The color certainly looks like a summer coat, but judging by the hair length and thickness of it, it looks like the winter coat. Judge a cool color to see on a winter coat. I especially like the top of the head.

Younz didn't hear this from me but, while trailer trucking MO 54 to the "Lake of the Ozarks" listening to the raadidio out of Osage Beach. A commercial for a local ATV dealer begins by announcing a population explosion of elusive Missouri White-Tailed Deer. The dude goes on to say how the deer are devastating landscaping, crops, forest, and auto insurance. 😋

Of course, with the purchase of an ATV, hunters can do their part in bringing this population explosion under control and saving the enviroment.

So you might ask yourself, while the hell is this even worth mentioning and to that I say.... so I can post my picture.

Today's the day. I will be out tomorrow afternoon if it doesn't rain. I went and checked a trail camera in one of my late season spots that I hadn't checked since Thanksgiving. Much to my surprise, there were 4 legal bucks on it and some smaller ones. Two of the bucks have been pretty regular and in daylight. Good to see them in the area. If they make it through the late season, they will be really nice next year.

Looks like several groups of does showing up as well so I hope to get a chance at one of them with the bow.

I believe late season is one of the best times to fill a tag if you are in the right spot. The right spot being by a good food source. The colder the better as well, but it doesn't look like any cold weather coming in the near future.

Opted for an archery hunt today over a flintlock hunt. Hunted 3 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon and again, never saw a deer. Feel like I am losing my edge..........
