18, that is a good eating place.  we stop at least five or six times a year when up in that area.  early season, crappies up on the north end, walleyes on the gravel bars, points and creek mouths at sundown.

years ago.  i know that trollers paralleled the causeway in the early fall for whites.  big numbers back then.  not sure now.  the guy to ask is russ williams at gateway bait and tackle in andover.  440.293.7227.  he knows the lake as well as anyone alive.  in season, lenny at duck and drake has the walleye info.  right now, dnd is closed.  he can be contacted on walleye central, fishing reports.  he goes by lcl.

back in the mid 80s, my fishing buddy was the police chief in andover.  he talked me into helping him coach senior girls fastpitch softball.  for two or three years, i would drive 52 miles one way from youngstown, five days a week to help him.  afterwards, almost nightly, i would run over to the lake when we were done and fish for smallies.  lots of miles, lots of fish and good memories.

have met him a couple of times.  seems like a nice fellow.  i still hunt and fish, from time to time, with a couple of the retired park rangers.  good guys up in that neck of the woods.

OUTSTANDING crappie fishing as soon as the ice comes off.

Find the shallow mud flats preferably with old reed / lilly pad growth from last year in the back bays and and creek inlets and hopefully after a full day of sunshine and you WILL catch crappies.  This is especially productive all along the north end (above the causeway).

hey slowtroller haha i'd suggest you do release the foul hooked ones. someone always complains about and then the fish warden comes. plus hes usually around anyway, or if not a sneaky informant that i ran into one year. ya tend to "foul" hook quite alot...

I fish the north end for crappie once the weather breaks.  Theres a spot down to the east from the spillway where we walk in to fish...Very secluded and very very productive when the sun starts going down.

Do alot of casting for walleyes down here too with large plugs.  Some nights you get a bunch of crappie and a few kicker walleyes if you are lucky.

I used to fish this lake all the time through the spring but it just quit being productive.  To catch fish you have to get into the weed beds and pull em outa there anymore.  Often would catch many limits on pymatuning before we went to Erie, but now we just go down to Port Clinton for the spring walleye action...

black jack bay, north end for crappies.  later on, south off of fishing point on the ohio side in the weeds.  haven't fished the latter in years, but we used to get them here.
