Lol BTDT.....children of the corn are watching you

😩 you try walking down an unlit dirt road in total darkness and have them stupid things "snort" 😲 20 yards away. 😵Snot funny.

They are so damed cute though.😂

Would a been a better picture had I not smudged the camera lens with a finger print again. Such a stupid place, to put a camera lens anyways😡 and another thing, I took a second shot but I was still shaking and instead of tapping the shutter button, I hit the selfie quick button and the flash fired directly into my eyes. Snot funny, that hurt.😱.

😉Glad you enjoyed the pic.👍

Great buck Justin!  Congrats!

Had a real fun hunt with my 9 year old Saturday on some new property in Crawford Co, courtesy of a really generous landowner.  He was close to getting shots off at some young bucks, but no dice.  Saw a slammer that knew what was up, and never got closer than 150 yards.  Landowner pulled his cards Sunday and sent me pics of a 4 or 5 year old buck that was checkin' on some does 45 minutes before we got set up!

Returned yesterday with him and my 16 year old, but it was pretty uneventful for both of 'em.

Reckon the younger one is done till gun season.  He hunted hard this year, but he's ready for a break.  See how many more times the older one can make himself get out this week.  I imagine he'll give it a few more tries.

Congrats Eyes on the fine buck!!

Did an all day sit yesterday and seen 4 bucks. A good one that was too far and not interested in calls. Sat this morning till 11. No bucks seen this morning. Decided to come hunt closer to home this evening. Things are definitely slowing down in my areas. Last week was the best week for sure. Oh well. I am gonna stick to it and hope to catch a buck moving from one hot doe to another.

Ran an arrow through a good one this morning. Man, it was cold out there. He was trailing a doe and thought it was over when she came right under me and started to get nervous. She bolted, but stopped at 20 yards and he followed, offering me a 14 yard hard quartering away shot.

Found him! A barrel chested rutted up stinky buck. 8 point with roughly a 17 inch spread.

Come on BTDT, time to upgrade your camera and to get some more interesting night shots....

Eyes that's a pretty cool piece of equipment buttttt that price.... wowzer😲!

My phone didn't cost nearly that much which is probably why, my pictures look to be taken through a finger print smudged lense.

Howeverrrrr, if you're at a loss as to what to get me for Christmas. 😛

Here are a few better pictures. He ended up going about 60 yards total. Pretty sure I heard him crash but the invasive honeysuckle is so thick the direction he went, I couldn't see him go down so I waited about an hour before trailing. Even though action typically slows down a bit during the second week of November with some lock down occurring, it just takes a buck to break away from one doe and start harassing another to get things stirring again. Perseverance is the key. It was tough climbing out of bed this morning knowing it was 10 degrees out there.

When I was trailing this buck, I could hear a deer running towards me. A 5 point came blowing past me at probably an arms width away. Not sure if he thought my crunching in the leaves was another deer or not.

Tag was removed for photos.

Went out this evening still in search of a doe. Snow made for a quiet sneak back to the stand and when I got there a fawn was bedded 50yds out with its back to me. Never spooked and I don't think it ever made me out as I climbed up. At 430 a fat doe came ripping under my stand and stopped 45 yds out shortly followed by a 4pt that stayed out a little further. She turned and started walking back my way, but then went into full on sprint again right underneath the stand for a second time as this little buck tried to run her down. By the amount fresh tracks I saw on the way in, I think this little guy had been running her for a while. Back at it tomorrow afternoon. Good luck to everyone in these last couple days.

Some fine story tellers in the Archery forum here.  Not many of us left on these boards that like to talk about and tell stories that are actually about hunting and fishing, but the good men that chime in on the yearly archery update thread are one of the reasons I stick around here.

Speaking of good story tellers, been a day or two since we heard from DarDys.  Anyone check to make sure he didn't get blown away with his blind?

My boys are tapped out on archery.  The oldest hunted yesterday from 4 till dark in his stand and didn't see a deer.  He said he's done.

I have a few hours tomorrow morning and I'm trying to decide if I want to hunt deer myself for the first time this year, or take Rocky out to chase some more of those green headed chickens on the game lands.

Dave you know I never fib, especially about such things as telling stories. 🙈

You're right about DarDy. Say ya don't suppose the wind spun 'him' around and he got lost or sumpthin. 🙉

As for your itinerary..... Hunt deer in the morning, ditch chickens mid morning,
"lunch", ditch chickens mid afternoon, "nap" in ground blind afternoon, til dark.

Now that's huntin.... 👍

Not blown away in the blind — it is still in the basement where I put it before the last windstorm. I’ll pull it out on Black Friday for my retired trooper hunter to use for the Saturday opener.

Nothing to report and nothing remarkable except having plenty of time to think while seeing nothing.

I’ll probably put something together after the archery season is over.

Best of luck to those still keeping on.

Thanks Crappie ... as long as I’m enjoying the hunts that is all that counts , I have been lucky over the years to be able to hit the woods for as long as I have and I’m very thankful for the success that I have had . I also realize that it is time to take a backseat to my son and grandsons and let them carry on the family tradition.... thanks again for you kind words

Went out this morning hoping to fill a doe tag if the right doe came through. Saw lots of deer from this stand recently until today. One 4 point and 2 does that were too far.

Re: Archery season 2019 2019/11/15 19:09:32 (permalink)
Lots of vacation left to burn at work so I took a half day today after doing my due diligence at the fun factory. The plow I ordered for the 4 wheeler came in late this morning, so I ended up going and picking it up which put me a little behind.

Got setup at 2 in a stand I affectuonatly call "the torture chamber". I'm not sure what it is about it, but it is the most uncomfortable stand I have to sit in for any period of time. Its in a great spot though, which is a small opening amongst a lot of small saplings and multiflora rose. The snow cover made it so I could see much farther than normal, and at 210 I saw 2 doe working toward me from the south. The lead doe played right along and gave me a nice slightly quartering to shot at 17yds at 213. The shot was a little further back than I wanted, so I waited an hour to climb down.

I've gotta say, I've never shot one with snow on the ground. Holy shat what a difference that can make with a blood trail. As I waited in the stand I could actually see the blood start to soak into the snow. Climbed down and checked it out up close. As stated, I hit it back further than wanted, but after seeing the blood trail decided to follow up on it. Found her laying 60yds away, and the old horton explorer claimed another one. One lung, destroyed the liver, and clipped the gut. Feeling quite blessed to have another one in the freezer after a 13 minute hunt.

Good luck to all of you headed out for the last day tomorrow! I have one more doe tag, but will be sleeping in and saving it to hopefully take one with my dads .270 or flintlock.
