Thunder I know you told me when you were heading out west but this darned 'oldtimers' wouldn't let me 'member'.

Good luck with your PA buck and I hope the weather in Montana settles down and we hear good stories of a successful hunt in Big Sky Country.

It's a "beautiful day in Penn's Woods" as I sit swinging my feet, sitting on my kitchen seat, looking out across yonder lawn.

42 degrees with a slight breeze out of the east and sunlight coming over the tree tops.

John, did ya move your box on stilts with ya?  Looks like you got enough room to take a whack at one of them with a crossbow!

Had some fun hunts with my boys the last two evenings.  Out with the older one Tuesday, and we watched a parade of 4 spikes, along with a bunch of does.  Juuust out of range for him, and although he's still a junior hunter, he's not shooting a spike or 4 this year anyway.

Back in the blind with my 9 year old yesterday where he did his damage Saturday.  Had two nice does and a fawn get to within about 8 yards of us at one point, before they moseyed off to munch on beans.  Saw the same spike parade from the night before, with a funky looking 6 and a real nice 8 following behind.

Always a challenge getting out of the blind on a field edge at dusk without blowing up the spot, but I think we managed to get away without detection.

Saturday when the wind is forecast to be from the N/NW, we can set up the blind closer to where the buck parade has been happening.

Dave, good luck this Saturday, tell the guys I'm rootin' for em and please keep the stories coming.

No, I didn't keep my high-rise ground blind.   I did however give it to my neighbor at the time, with the understanding I have first reserve.  Not much chance he need worry about this year though.  Just no desire to hunt Penn's Woods elusive White Tailed Deer and besides they're just so danged cute.

Guess you can say I'm into "catch and release" hunting now,, choot-em with a camera.

Hunted last evening snuck into where I assumed a mature buck would be bedded (they always are if there is one on the property) well if he was he went out the back no sightings of any bucks seen some fresh tracks and 2 scrapes walking in , so there's one in there somewhere by the size of the tracks, seen 9 does arise from the satellite bedding so I got in there unseen watched 3 does get out there beds at 430 , o well the hunt continues wish I could of got out tonight I'm betting the movement will be heavy in the oncoming front .... but I had to work late ....duck opener tomorrow hopefully I can kill some woodys then it's back to a treestand for the next 30 something days .....i seen Denver went from 83° to 18° in 24 hrs ...... ima freeze glad we got a wall tent and woodburner

I'd rather be lucky then good, but im to good to be lucky

Good luck out west and with them ducks thunder. Sounds like your on top of them whitetail too 👍.

Went out for my second sit this afternoon in a stand I wasn't too confident in for today. Sure enough all I saw was one fu...friggin squirrel. Back to the oaks tomorrow if the rain isn't pouring down on the AM.

That’s a bummer man.

I debated taking my boys this evening. Had something to do with the whole family but could’ve squeezed in an evening hunt.

Liked the high pressure and W/NW wind, but wondered what the nearly full moon and clear sky would do. Was driving through an area between 6:30 & 7 where I’d expect to see quite a few deer out and didn’t see a single one.

Was out this evening and had an 8 point come in at 5:00 and feed around me for 25 minutes within 20 yards. He was as close as 10. He got a pass. Always nice to let one walk knowing that I most likely could have been done tonight. Hopefully it pays off over the next month.

After an uneventful Saturday sit in the afternoon I decided to check the camera yesterday. Sure enough this guy showed up and probably went right past my stand while I decided to hunt another property on Saturday. Kind of a washed out pic, but a nice buck.

Had big plans of going out tonight after seeing this, but it didn't happen. Sure enough I stepped out and checked the field tonight whilst taking care of a few things and he came back through again at the same time headed in the same direction.

Lol tuna... Makes me think of when my sister got married. My dad went to Colorado almost religiously this time of year to elk hunt. Sister picked the same time of year to get married and have the wedding in Florida. I can still hear him saying " you know its elk season right" the day before the wedding...jokingly of course.
