I've seen parents fishing on the docks at the North Shore beach area. Some won't even move, when you try to pull your boat in.

I use to bite my tongue, but anymore I tell adults who keep fishing on the dock when I’m coming in, that boats have the right of way for the dock.
I wont yell at kids though...eventhough its an annoyance.

Just my two cents.....when fishing with fatheads especially the large size I find those big black headed ones are terrible for catching fish overall. Don't get me wrong sometimes a hungry fish will grab anything, but those black headed carp looking ones are my least favorite . I prefer the lighter shinier ones..... they get ate up five times as fast...especially by Walleye and Trout.
I feel your pain on Walleye also..... tough season all over.
You're right. Those are males in breeding condition, and fish definitely don't like them. My guess would be that their hormones taste funky. :)

Those are the males....ok....yea they are almost a waste of time using....proved that too many times. I love using larger Shiners just too expensive but deadly !

My favorites are the ones who are bank fishing, set up with chairs, tackle boxes, etc... ON the actual boat ramps.
This goes on at Bear Run every nice night from May through September give or take. Can't fish within what, 200 feet of the launches? You'd thing those lazy a-hole wardens that just drive their cherokee down to the launch and back would at least chase these clowns off. Apparently that's too much work. As for those black fatheads... noticed the same thing. Those will stay on your line all day with no hits. Much better when they are light colored. I always get a mix of at least large and small. Sometimes they want big ones and sometimes small. And sometimes they don't care.

I think the boat less angler get a free pass most times from authorities. Look at how much trash gets left behind by shore anglers, and you almost never see or hear of people getting a littering ticket.

30 some odd years ago, before I quit fishing for those pellet headed stocked trout, I carried a small garbage bag with me along the stream, just to pick up after the slobs. In a half mile or so creekside I'd get back to car with a full bag. Pop cans, snelled hook packages, plastic and styrofoam bait containers, etc. Never underestimate how disgusting some folks can be. Every year at Anthony's Bridge on Buffalo Creek, there was a litter barrel there half empty, and garbage on the ground all around it. Guess somebody tried but couldn't hit a 28" circumference drum from 3 feet away, and didn't want to bother tryin' again.

Thanks for the relies guys! Yeah Mainly looking for a spot in the grass so I'm not holding anyone up. I'll give Porters Cove a shot. I'll keep an eye on the wind for sure, that would easily ruin a trip.
Porters Cove is definitely more user friendly for kayaks, but get a system down and you won't have an issue launching from anywhere. Many of the launches have a grassy area that allows you to launch without ever needing to occupy space on the ramp. My preferred method is to use a cart which breaks down and can fit in the hull, or strap to the back. I can take all the time I need to prep, then just wheel it down to the water and go. And ditto on the wind, it is really the only thing that will keep me off the water. Also have a light in case you don't get back in before dark. At the very least, a headlamp.

The walleye forgot to jump in my boat yesterday while trolling for a few hours. Did get a nice channel cat to at least make it interesting. Did okay drifting in the 15mph wind, but nothing huge. Got a nice variety, small wipers, crappies, perch and even a small mouth! Then decided to focus on crappie and did well with some nice size fish (slabs for me). Single alewives jumping at dusk and some fillets for my fryer. It is officially spring for me.

Good to hear. Was debating between Arthur and Glendale. Wanted to try one of them on Monday depending on the forecasted winds. Sounds like both are picking up for crappie.

regarding the dock people that think the dock area is the playground... saw that at woodcock lake. full picnic day spread out at the launch. they were swimming around and playing in the water w two massive dogs. got mad at me when i asked if they could move over so i could take out. why not go to the actual beach area? arthur was a zoo yesterday. please folks, (prob not ones that come here) take your boat/trailer out to a parking lot and practice. mid may on a sunday at 4pm is NOT the time to learn how to back in your trailer.

After years of driving tractor-trailers in an earlier life, I get a kick out of watchin' people tryin' to back a trailer. All I can tell 'em is: if you see too much trailer in your left mirror, turn left! If you see too much trailer in your right mirror, turn right!  It ain't like they're tryin' to put a 48 footer in a 1930s dock that was made for a 28' trailer.

Not sure where Kahle is. Look up O’Donnell’s Bait (US19). Rogers Rifle and Rod (North shore - not sure of road name, but awesome guy and place to shop if fishing North Shore). I think Appalachian Outfitters, right across from Big Butt ler Fair grounds on 422. All should have minnows, shiners, crawlers and other. Depending time of year, leaches, crawfish and suckers. Support the local guys if you can. Most have very competitive prices on tackle tooo. Same thing with buying gas, snacks and other. Support the local economy and the more the state will support the Lake.

Thanks. Looks like Appalachian would be the most convenient. I usually go to my local bait shop in Indiana but work in Butler and would like to hit Arthur and Kahle in the evenings after work.

If you are headed to Khale and pending your route from Butler............ Khale is drawn down 6 feet (to be adjusted to 3.5 ft.) because of spillway and seepage concerns. Appalachian is right next to a Kwik Fill, across from Butler Fair. Not sure if right across from fair entrance, but pretty close. If you keep going towards the park, the next store down (about 100 yards) I think is called Fairgrounds Market or something like that. There is a small ice cream shop attached as well. Their hot foods section in the market is pretty good (so is Cal's on 19, but out of your way from there). They also run some great steak specials... I've hit them up after fishing for some turf, to complete the surf and turf. For convenience, you can't beat that strip of shops. When fishing 528, I try to hit up the Appalacian, Kwik Fill and market. When fishing main lake from south shore, Cal's and O'Donnells. North shore, Cal's and Rogers. I do my best to try to support them all. They are likely all just making enough to keep their doors open for us.

I’d be coming from butler and putting in at Porters Cove so Appalachian seems most convenient but may visit O’Donnell.
As for Kahle, I am using a kayak so launching isn’t a problem.
