down rigger release clips for braided line

Any suggestions?  I have 50# braided line and do not want to switch to steel or mono.

I don't put the braid directly into the clips (black Big John's), like to half-hitch a #16 rubber band around the braid and put the rubber band into the clip.

What IUP said. I'm partial to Blacks. Use them everyday(May thru October)without fail.

Like Erie Mako, I run the BigJon rubber band clips on 30lb PP.  I wrap entire band 4-5 time around braid then put both ends (loops) of the band on the hook.  Seems to stop slippage better than a single cinch.
